passport is about to expire but not getting online appoint..

Hi,
I would be very grateful if someone can advice me.

My daughter passport is about to expire on 2nd Dec 2014(having valid visa till 2016). I'm trying to book an online appointment but not getting appointment. All appointments are after on 4th Dec onward. Is it OK apply after passport is expired. OR can i go directly to hci and get appointment. Please advice.
