Passport and ID card back within 4 weeks?

Hi I've just registered on this forum and am looking to ask some questions...

I applied for a child visa extension (I'm 16) by post on the 30th May and went to take my biometrics test on 16th June.

Two years ago, when I applied for a visa extension, it was back to me in two weeks. So this time I expected the same and was already planning a trip to France from today (which I've cancelled now).

But it has been over two weeks and nothing has happened. I guess this new ID card thing is delaying the process and didn't realise that most people actually get it within 4 weeks, as written on the Home Office website.

So, has anyone received their passport and ID card back within 4 weeks? If so, how long exactly? Is the shortest like 3 weeks?
