passport held under legacy at Liverpool case center for 7M

I need your comments regarding my case, I hold a french travel document cov 1954, in 2006 I applied for transfer of refugee status as I live and work in UK as a doctor(dependant Tier1 visa). since the application, I didnot receive any responce for many months so I withdrew the passport.

On Nov 2010, i received a letter stating that to send the documents(passport/pay slips,bankstatements) in order to process the case so i send all the required documents to Liverpool legacy Case center on Dcember 2010.
Now 7months down the line, I have not heard anything from the homeoffice and my visa expires on August 2011. My passport is required for my next employer with visa extension. if I were not to send the passport to Liverpool, our plan was to apply for PR in july2011.

I am so frustrated that I am unable to contact them on phone, there is no reply to the letter sent by my solicitor.

If I dont get it right, I might lose my job(to get a job is even more difficult).

Can anyone help me to figure out the next best and wise action please.

I would appreciate your help.
