passport renewal

Hi,
I am working in UK on a tier 2 visa and my employment contract is till july 2015. I am planning to bring my wife and son from India. My son is 5 years old and his passport expires in March 2015. In such case is it possible to apply for his dependant visa or first he has to renew his passport. His validity is falling 4 months short. Pls suggest me what to do?

you can use your son's current passport for the dependant visa application. When his passport expires in 2015 you can either have his visa transferred into his new passport or he can travel with two passports.
