Post by Domdomdom » Fri Jul 10, 2020 2:27 pm

Hi

My wife has been desperately trying to get citizens office in tipperary to return her passport as she has sick family back home.

Over a week of calling still no luck beings passed around everyone.

Anyone any advice or luck in this situation.

They have urged people since April not to send any application over because it is going to take months before the passport can be returned.

The phone line is open only for 2.5 hours on Tuesday and Thursday, and usually it takes hundreds of calls to get through.

You should write an email with the title clearly saying URGENT. If you are lucky, you will get a reply within hours. If you don't get a reply within 2 days, send a new one. Good luck.

If your wife is British, was born in the UK, and she wishes to travel back to the UK, she doe not need a passport. For example, Aer Lingus accepts a driving licence and social security card.
