Passport Validity for travel on HSMP visa

Post by Grateful_Dead » Fri Aug 15, 2008 8:15 pm

Hello

I am on HSMP visa which is valid for another 2 years. My passport is valid till December 2008. I need some help -

Can I travel to India on my passport for a few days - 10 to be specific and return to UK on my existing passport or is there a requirement that passport should be valid for certain months for you to be able to enter UK?

Help will be greatly appreciated.

If there is any UK Government link to which you can direct me that will be nice

Many thanks

AFAIK, If you are an Indian passport holder (i.e. - travelling back home) or have a Indian travel visa already issued, then you can return to UK any day before the expiry of your passport.

If you have time on your hands before you travel to India, you might as well get a new passport issued. If you are an Indian passport holder, see Passport Services - High Commission of India, UK on how to apply for a new passport.

Many thanks shushdmehta. I am an Indian passport holder and travelling to India. Will be returning to UK after about 10 days with at least three a half months of validity still remaining on my passport. I intend to renew it on my return to UK at High Commission London. My HSMP visa is however valid for another 2 years.

In this scenario would immigration officials at Heathrow or the Stupid staff create any issues.

Will very much appreciate your response.

Thanks

I don't think so. Technically (or legally), no one should stop you from travelling as long as your passport is valid or stop you from *returning* to UK as long as your HSMP visa is valid.
