Passport Validity of 6 Months must for sponsor

HI,

I am on Tier1 visa valid till Feb 2016 and planning to sponsor my parents for General Visa .
My passport is not valid for more than 6 months .Is it must to have passport validity of more than 6 months for sponsor as
well ?
