Paying for wedding

Hello all...

Just a question thats been bothering me...I have not got any major savings but I am mananging to save £450 each month for the last few months..the thing is, we will be getting married in april in jamaica (he will be applying to come and join me from jamaica to uk after we get married) and i will need to use the money saved to help pay for it..will this be a problem when they check my bank statments or should i write a statement to explain where the money has gone..(hope this makes sence )

If you are going to spend teh littel savings that you have on your wedding, then how do you intend to support,maintain and accommodate your hubby when he comes over?

I work two jobs and I live with parent...supporting, maintaining and accommadating him when he comes over is not a problem at all...

If that is the case then go ahead and apply. It might be a good idea to say in your statement, how you intend to do this, so ECO is aware of it.

There has to be a level of common sense ECOs apply regardless of the country the application is submitted in. If you are going to submit the application straight after, then explain in a supporting letter that you are able to save but much of this has gone towards the wedding and travel. Perhaps include 6 months bank statements to demonstrate this. If you can give it a bit of time before applying then perhaps build up your savings a little to demonstrate that you are building back your savings post wedding.

As a full time student, although i am married (to a Jamaican also) we wont be submitting until i complete my studies. My lack of savings will be explained by way of having to use it to travel (me and my son usually £1500 per trip).

As long as your income leaves you with approx £110 per week to supporr him then you have met the requirements. If in doubt do a budgetting sheet to show this.
