PBS Calculator Salary calculation vs Pay slips

Post by krishna1215 » Sun Oct 18, 2009 12:57 am

Hi,
lets say my gross salary is 3333.33 per month
I got my pay slips mentioned the same and I got employers letter also mentioning my gross 3333.33 per month and the net salary.

Now in UK PBS calculator there are 2 ways we can select salary calculation. 1) Range selection 2) Enter your earnings.

Regarding Enter your earnings if selected, it doesnot accept 3333.33 instead it rips off decimals and takes it as 3333. If I select this option there is 4 pound difference in calculation. This might confuse the statements I had shown (Letters from employers and my Table which I created to show the total earnings calculations etc). Is it mandatory I select this way (ie Enter ur earnings in PBS caclulator) OR the best in my case is to select 1) Range selection and then I show all the calculation in cover letter with proof.

Please let me know.

PBS calculator does not accept decimal values. It is okay if you just use 3333. PBS calculator report will give just a rough idea about your respective salary band. As far as the comparison of your salary is concerned, it will be made between bank statements/payslips or letter from employer, that you have provided.

Hi again Mevent,

So should I submit the Earnings entered in PBS calculator. What if I just select Enter Range (ie the drop down where we select range).

Wouldnt that be accepted.

I understood what you had mentioned, but if its not mandatory may be I can use that Enter range selection.

PBS calculator is for self assessment. It is not required to submit the output of the calculator.

Hello Krishna,
As Push has mentioned, PBS calculator is just a self-assessment tool. It is not mandatory to submit the PBS calculator report. But most of people submit it, to give case worker an idea about the application.

My earnings were also something like 00000.xx, but I did not add .xx. I submitted PBS calculator report without decimals and it was fine. I would suggest you to include your earnings (and not select the relative band), because by doing so you will use exchange rate of the last day of your earnings claimed, and it would be printed out on PBS calculator report, which will help case worker.

Otherwise, you can do this conversion and provide detail about it in your cover letter. And just select relative band in calculator. It would also be okay. Either way, there is no problem at all.

Hi Mvent,
There is another thing which i thought of.

In the cover letter I have mentioned
Attatched PBS calculator work out sheet
May be we can mention here (rough estimate of salary earnings. PBS doesnot accept decimals).

Is that unnecessary to explain :D
