PBS Dependent Visa Help

Post by aayushahuja » Sun Oct 16, 2022 12:27 pm

Hi everyone.

I recently got married and would like to bring my wife to UK. I am currently on Tier 2 General Visa and I am completing 4 years out of my 5 year visa. I work as Software Engineer. I got a few questions around what to fill in the application form -

1. At the time of my original application in 2019, my occupation code was 2136 (Programmers and software development professionals), and it was NOT on shortage occupation list at that time. However, now according to the new list, the code is on shortage list. Which one should I choose? It affects because the visa costs differ a lot between the two.
2. Will her visa expire with me (i.e in 1 year), even though I have to pay for a 5 year visa. I am planning to apply for ILR, what should I do once her visa expires?
3. When paying for IHS, should I put end date same as my CoS, which calculates IHS for 1.5 years. Is this correct, or do I have to pay for 5 years?

Thanks!

Probably shortage occupation but it depends on what the actual question is on the form

Her visa will expire on the same date as your current visa. Before her visa expires she should apply for a PBS dependant visa extension - she'll get a mandatory 3 year extension

the end date should be the expiry date on your current permission (not the CoS work end date). The IHS will be for 2 years

depends on what the actual question is on the form
The question says -
Is <my_name>'s work in a shortage occupation?

The question is in the present tense, so should be answer be - Yes
