PBS Dependent Visa - Travel date listed as before the biometric appointment date

Post by sg22 » Wed Apr 06, 2022 8:07 am

Dear Members,

My COS started from 13th Mar 2022 for 3 years. I planned to reach UK on 11th April and join from 12th April. I appeared for my Biometric in VFS, India on 23th March and am awaiting the decision. Priority service is currently suspended and there is no information yet from VFS / Home office so 11th April travel seems difficult now.

Two weeks back, my wife also applied for PBS Dependent Visa (with 12th April 22 as my joining date) and paid the IHS charges also but did not scheduled her biometric appointment due to "x" reason. Her Visa application stated that she will also travel with me on 11th April 22.

She will apply for biometric appointment after 2-3 days and will most probably get the Biometric appointment after 11th April but the Visa application mentions that she intends to travel on 11th April.
Q1. Does this invite risk of her Visa application getting rejected?
Q2. Can we update this information (My joining date & our travel date) somehow in the application?
Q3. Can we ask VFS office to update this information during the biometric appointment?
Q4. Should we wait for some more time till my Visa also gets processed? We do not know how much that wait will be?
Q4.1. Any pointers on - how much more time will my application take, will really be helpful.
Q5. Please suggest any steps/actions/precautions that we should take in this situation.

"x" reason: My child's passport is undergoing reissuance currently and may still take 2-3 more days. Both of them wanted to have appointment together so that their Visa applications are processed together.

Thanks for your time.
Regards,
SG22

Thanks CR001. Your response was truly a relief. Q1, Q2, & Q3 of original post are clear. Couple of queries-

A) Should my wife wait to schedule her biometric (VFS) appointment till I get my Visa (Employer sponsored COS/Skilled Worker - biometric done on 24-Mar-22) or apply right away? Will the process be faster or more certain if my Visa come first?

B) My child's renewed passport will come in next week. Is there a merit in applying for my wife's Visa along with my child's Visa OR should she apply right away?

Thanks a lot for sharing your expertise.

Regards,
SG

p.s.: This post was replied in another thread but I'm asking the follow up question in this thread only so that anyone could relate if facing similar situation.
(The other thread is: uk-skilled-worker-visas/sw-dependent-re ... l#p2064586)
For summary answer, CR001 suggested that I need not cancel current application + reapply for updating the travel date and that I can upload a cover letter after scheduling biometric appointment on VFS global site.

A. No need to wait, apply now. Her application will be put on hold and decided shortly after yours.
B. No difference applying together or separately. I think there might not be even an option nowadays to add another applicant within the same application. So you may have to create separate application/account anyways.
