PBS Dependent with previous bad credit history in UK.

Post by jack_daniel » Tue Jan 14, 2014 1:01 pm

Hello! Members.
I would like to share a potential concern for my spouse while applying for a dependent visa for herself.
I am recently married to someone who lived in the UK in past on student visa from 2010 to 2012.
During that period she had purchased two mobiles phones (ifone 4S and Sony Experia nearly 1000£ worth together) on contract (Orange & T-Mobile) and couldn't pay up for the full contract duration and had to leave UK as her visa was expiring.
I'm wondering if that could've hampered her credit history in UK and could casue any problems while doing background
verification checks while applying for a dependent visa.

Any piece of advice would help.

Kind Regards
JD

The UKBA/UKVI do not conduct credit checks. Although, she should check to see if she has a CCJ in her name. Remember, a general grounds for refusal is where an applicant shows an intention to not pay debts. However, they're not likely to know this unless there was a criminal prosecution.
