Permanent residence card

Post by ducktastic » Sat Mar 07, 2009 6:01 pm

Once you receive the PRC, I have read you have to leave the UK and take up residency in canada within 6 months of receipt (which of course we want to!)

Does anyone know if this is correct?
Thanks

From the day you land (and set the wheels in motion to get your PR card) you have to be in Canada for two out of the following five rolling years. This is measured in days.

Hi

You have one year to land in Canada from the date of your medicals. It takes 2 - 6 months to process your documents after you send your medicals in so you have 6 - 10 months after recieving your permanent resident visa.

Hi
i am planning to go to Canda under skilled PR in April 2009 from UK as my PR visa for one year expire in June 2009.

Is it required to fill any forms to get the PR CArd prior to travel to Canada? or I will get that automaticclly if I give them an address at the port of entry to be posted?

Can I get out of Canada before getting the PR Card? If I do so , can I reenter again and how?

Please give some explanation on this.

Discussed at:

For your initial entry, your immigrant visa will do.

If you do not have a visa waiver passport, PR Card or a Travel Document is absolutely mandatory to travel by commercial carrier to Canada.

Why is this the case?

Because passport alone isn't enough to board Canada-bound transportation, if it requires a tourist visa.
