Hi guys,
Wonder if you can help me out.My lady is from the Philippines and was abandoned by her husband.As there is no divorce over there,will a legal separation allow me to marry her in the UK?Thanks John.

As regards whether a legal separation would allow a person to get married I think the answer is clearly no. Legal separation and divorce are totally different. But a nullity of the present marriage would allow a further marriage to take place.

In order to get to the UK your gf will need to get a visa. What sort of visa? A fiancée visa? If so it is necessary to show that she is currently unmarried (or that the existing marriage will end in the very near future). That appears to be a problem.

Thanks for your reply,It was exactly my thoughts,big problem.I dont know how else to get her to the UK so she is able to work.We have met each other,and im going back over next May,so if anyone has any idea it will be much appreciated.Thanks
