please help -unmarried partner visa

Post by pg5 » Wed Jul 16, 2008 4:10 am

Hi guys
I am writing this message after a long time, last time I have got really good info about unmarried visa and it was really helpful.

Please help me if somebody have unmarried partner visa and he/she has travelled alone without their partners. I am a bit worried as I am travelling back to my home country (one of the strict Islamic countries) and don’t want to mention on airport that I have an unmarried partner visa on my passport. Do I need to inform the airport authorities that I am on this particular visa? I am also doing MSc. So I can tell that I am doing my Master (meaning I am on a student visa). Is it wrong to do like this? Please help. I will inform about my visa status in UK but as Islamic countries have different issues so I am asking this info. Please help if anybody knows any thing about it.

You don't need to tell them anything. What does the visa say exactly (I've never seen these vignettes myself)?

The unmarried partner visa just says "residence permit" and is indentical to a spouse visa and paractically identical to a student visa . Only the UK immigration officials would be able to know what it is from their records.

Hi guys (Sakura and Nowty)
Really thanks for reply, you are right it says "residence permit". However there is a slight difference, student visa has restriction for work but unmarried partner visa stamp has not last lines (for work restriction). The thing is every time, when I go back home, security on airport ask what I am doing in UK and ask university papers etc, and as you know Muslim countries have different things so that was the reason I asked. Thanks again for kind help.

just tell them you are a resident in uk? that is as honest as it gets.

besides, i dont think you need to tell them anything. after all you are going back to your home country -provided you have no broken any laws in uk and your country.:p
