POINT OF ENTRY

Post by larry » Fri Aug 19, 2005 8:57 am

Hi all, I will be moving to UK on HSMP Visa within the next couple of weeks and would like to clarify the followings:

1. Is one way flight ticket okay for me?

2. Is there any minimun amount of money required at the point of entry?

3. Will immigration officer request for amount available to me

4. What are the documents required at the point of entry and what are the likely questions the immigration officer will ask me?

Your response will be appreciated.

Larrie

From what you post it seems that you already have your EC in your passport. Accordingly you have already passed the financial requirements. There is no need for you to carry a huge sum of money with you .... it is access to that money that will help you. Clearly you should carry enough cash ... or ability to readily obtain cash ... with you in order to cover your immediate needs.

One-way ticket? With HSMP EC already in your passport that is totally OK.

1. Is one way flight ticket okay for me? YES, but it would cost almost the same to have a two way (some times)....

2. Is there any minimun amount of money required at the point of entry? No, but bring the statements, don't bring more than US$10K in cash...most countries will tax you and you need to declare.

3. Will immigration officer request for amount available to me NO.

4. What are the documents required at the point of entry and what are the likely questions the immigration officer will ask me? they might ask for the HSMP letter (not mandatory); they will ask you the purpose of the visit, you can tell "work" and he will see the EC and will let you go.
