political asylum for cuban man

Post by aneta » Mon Feb 02, 2009 6:17 pm

Hello Everybody!!!

I met my boyfriend in Cuba, (he is Cuban) after 3 months he got a tourist visa to Poland.
I am a Polish girl but i have been living in Ireland since 2005.
Friend of mine send him an invitation..He got visa only for a month but he decided already he will never come back to Cuba. We tried to extend a visa but is impossible.(No law to extend a visa for people who get visa for a month)

One week before his visa was finished we went to Holland to apply for political asylum. He is in process since June 2008, and still they did not give him an answer.Netherlands government contact some time ago with polish government to decided which country will give him a "real" process because his visa was issued for Poland.
So, until end of March they will decide..
I want to be with him, i fly every month from Ireland to Holland...but i cant anymore fly so often..my employer doesnt want to give me so many days off. I want to marry him but i dont know what to do!!!
I even decided to move in to Holland when he will get answer, start work and marry him there....but the question is what will happen if they transfer him to Poland and decide deport him to Cuba in short time....
I really dont know what to do!!! Is anybody there who has similar situation???
i love him and worry about his condition ..losing hope, some of the people in his camp waiting for answer even few years...he doesnt has anybody in Europa except me...
Plese...help me....
Huge thanks in advance for any advice given..

if he has a valid cuban passport he can travel to Republic of Georgia and depending on foreign investor status he can get a Geo citizenship.RG does accept dual citizenship.

Here is the legal link

Georgia has 1 month visa free travel regime with Cuba so I believe Cubans can enter Georgia 1 month visa free too because visa free regime must be announced and accepted by both parties.

Not good and not bad but still a valid passport of one country can keep him away from Cuba legally.

Also I think you are a Polish citizen and why didnt you try to marry him, legalise the documents at nearest Polish embassy and bring him to Poland?

Do you really want to marry him?

If so, marry him and take him to Ireland with you (I'm assuming that you work / study in Ireland).

I don't think you will be allowed to marry in Holland, so you might need to do some research to find out where in Schengen will marry you.

EDIT: Possibly Belgium?

better idea is to marry him and ask assistance from nearest Polish embassy if you are holding a Polish citizenship.

if you are male or female from one country and you want to marry with female or male from another country usually your embassy does legalistaion and approval of papers.so it would be better idea just finding a polish embassy in Latin america and directly going there for marriage before it turned to a legal mess like this.

There's always an option if you guys have some money to spend. The cheapest option is in Central America (not Panama) which can be gotten for around $40,000 for both if you if you get married. The other options are very expensive like St. Kitts and Nevis, etc. Be careful to read about what you are paying for--if it's the same passport that a regular citizen gets or if it's a special one (like in Panama or the U.S. and their green cards). These countries also will not report that you have received a new passport to your home country, if that's worth anything to him, which is legal.

The advice to marry him is good from an immigration standpoint (saves a lot of money), though it's up to you to decide if he's worth it. There are always prenumps.

Hope I helped.
