Post ILR: spousal visa for my wife etc.

Post by Zebrudaya » Wed Dec 01, 2010 3:42 pm

Dear colleagues

Please I need help. I have checked several posts similar to what I want to ask but none was exactly similar. After I have got my ILR, I intend to go home to marry and shortly later, bring her into UK to live with me through spousal visa. I am confused now because I have read some posts claiming that the lady has to (1) do a TB test, (2) take an IELTS English exam, (3) show evidence that we plan to live together and are a couple viz: marriage certificate, pictures, correspondence beween us etc, which are quite in order etc.

My questions are these: (1) Is the TB test only for people from India and Pakistan? I come from W Africa myself and my future wife. (2) Does my wife need to take IELTS and KOL English test? She holds a bachelor degree.
(3) How long does spousal visa last and can it be converted to ILR for her before it runs out?
(4) Does it mean these are new regulations or do they concern only people from Asia?

The Experienced people like Gurus, moderators and members of standing etc should try and help me. I need to sort many things out asap. Thank you.

1. Health (TB) screening
2. For spouse visa, your spouse will need to meet the English language requirements for partners. She will need to pass KOL test before applying for settlement.
3. See Partners of British citizens and people settled in the UK
