Post study visa biometric test

Post by linux44 » Wed Jul 06, 2011 6:20 pm

Hi Guys,
I hope u are all good and kicking :D

One of my mate and her wife have applied for my post study visa and asked me the following qs which i thought it will be nice if u guys can assist me with it

1.the documents we sent were:
Passport, Police registration, 110 days bank statement exceeding the £800 limit, Letter from their uni confirming that they will get their award and ..( as stated in UKBA website whereby the letter is used as a replacement for the qulification degree paper), 2 photos with names written on the back

Is there anything they have missed? should have they sent a marrige certificate ? ( they have made a seperate application each ann no one is dependent of the other so they haven't sent the marriage certificate)

2.they need their visa asap but have been told that they need to do a biometric test which is done after the home office recives the apps and then contact them to do it. Can someone please explain about this procedure and how long will it take.

from ur point of view, how long would the overall app processing time takes( the UKBA says 4 weeks but want to get opinion from other peoples and preferabaly someone who has applied before)

My self app didn't take that long

Hi ,

They have received a letter today from homeoffice confirming that they (homeoffice) has received their applications.

could you please help us with these questions:
1. If they posted the application last week and received a letter this week, would they receive a follow up letter for biometric test?

2. is biometric test a must for the applicant? would they do it before deciding on the application or after it?
In another word do they only require biometric if u are successful?

Many thanks

I didn't have to do the biometric test for my post-study visa. I was surprised. All I received was the letter confirming they got the documents. Then it took about 6 weeks before the visa and documents were returned. I did have to do the biometric test for my student visa, so I'm not sure if that was the reason they didn't need it or maybe they just don't do it for this category of visas.

1. Yes they will receive a letter for the biometric test once the application is found to be valid-i.e. Fee paid, photos meet guidance, correct form used etc.

2. They don't considered the application until after biometrics have been given.
Receiving the biometric letter is not an indication that application will be successful.

biometrics are now required for psw. Presumably you applied last year before they introduced the requirement.

they gave a finger print or maybe known as biometrics in 2006 before they left the home country in the UK embassy. is this biometric test any different?

do u know how long it takes for them to receive the biometric test letter?

it doesn't matter if they have given biometrics before they will need to give them again if required in the category in which they are applying.

It can take anything from a few days to a few weeks for the letter.
