Medical checkup is not required for all hSMP applicants. This is what I picked up from the BHC website (do not know if this applies to HSMP too as it is not a work permit):

Medical Examination For Work Permit Applicants

If you intend to travel to the United Kingdom to work in either the food & beverage industry, or in the healthcare industry, you will need to have a medical examination before your visa is issued.

Thanks for the info.
This is strange. VFS ppl didnt even ask me to take the medical test n said they'll call me if required.

Experts any comments?

Congrats Ritz123,

So reached UK .......good...
well for me, no way to find the status of my EC application as the link to track application on http://www.vfs-uk.co.in/ has been removed.

Any pointers to find the status? I had applied on 23th July.

Hi Push_hsmp,

How about you, Did you have to go through medical checkup before getting your visa stamped? please indicate the industry you are working, so that we all get an idea as to who all are supposed to go through this checkup. And if we have to go though this thing how long is it going to delay our visa?

Hi dhanubs,

I did not have to undergo a medical test. I am working in the Finance Industry (Investment Banking). From the posts that I have seen on this forum, very few people have reported that they were asked for medical tests. the process I think drags for a week, if medical test is advised. Which industry are you going to be working in?

Push,

Only applicants related to industries like Animal husbandry, Medicine and Agriculture etc need to undergo Medical examination. Rest all can relax.

btw Dhanu is into IT.

Hi Push_Hsmp,

I am into IT. I did not have to undergo medical test. I was just speculating as to who all are supposed to undergo this, as you said it's going to delay the processing for further 1 week. Thanks for your response.

Hi Push_Hsmp,

There are some people who actually need to undergo Medical Examination, need not be only the above reasons like medial industry etc. One of my friends from IT had to undergo Medical Examination. Its at their discretion.

Thanks and Regards

Hi Everyone,

I got EC in a record time of 6 days. There was nothing earth-shattering in my documentation. Just followed the documents that everyone mentioned in this forum. I did not have a sponsor and rode on 4.9 lakhs of balance in my bank Account. I don't have to undergo medical examination as am into IT industry.

Here's my timeline.

Applied for EC on 25th July at VFS, Bangalore
No updates from BHC/Integra
Got my Visa via courier on 1st August stamped for 2 years starting from 31st July although I had asked from 1st September.

Hi push_hsmp,

I did not have a pre-verification done by Integra. Looks like they did not do any Integra verification in my case.

Thats difficult to believe. BHC/VFS website say that Integra Verification is mandatory now.

There must have been some reasons for this quick turnaround. Anyways, as the outcome was positive, there is a reason to rejoice !! :D Many congrats once again.

When are you landing in UK then ?
