Yesterday I called CGI Birmingham to know the status of my application. They took my File Ack No. and Phone number and called back to me today. As per them though I submitted my applications on 16-Apr-2014, actually scanned and sent to India on 2nd May 2014. That's pity. It took 2 weeks to scan applications. It looks to be CGI Birmingham slow in processsing. And that lady said it might take another month or so to process 2nd May applications.

HELLO ALL

I HAVE HEARD MANY NEGATIVE REVIEWS OF BIRMINGHAM AND EDINBURGH REGARDING OCI. PLEASE ALWAYS APPLY FROM LONDON. THE PROCESS SHOULD TAKE 6 WEEKS.

GOOD LUCK ALL

THe man in charge should be embarrassed and ashamed , Birmingham CGi is shambles, the staff are rude and ignorant, They have no manners and are beyond words. They allow agents they know to push in the queue!,

I submitted my OCi application in Birmingham twice, they found silly reasons to refuse the application, When I contested their reasons were not correct, they simply said move on, they can not help me!!!, I submitted the same application to London and it has been processed.

I do not think the system of application is the major problem It is the staff in Birmingham. Even though the system of application is flawed.

Word should be passed around of how terrible the staff at Birmingham.

I wrote an email to hcilondon asking the status of my application( acknowledge date 23 April)and this is the reply I got from them.

"Pl. wait. we are waiting for printing of your sticker in India. As soon as
they will print it, will update online."

What does it mean?Haven't I been waiting for printing of sticker for past 6 weeks.?

Wonder when will this process come to an end..... :-(((((((

I am getting really worried now as I submitted my application in London on Apr 30 and I am travelling June 30th. Can you please advise which email address did you use to know the status?

Thank you

I applied on the 25th of April (in person at London). The HCI website says that we should contact them after 5 weeks of application date at the email ID mentioned in the previous post.

I did, and got the exact same reply, which is basically a copy-paste. I guess its only reasonable since they will have to reply to thousands everyday.

Yes right. But if they advertise a service on their website then I am sure there has to be some validity and there is not just one person sitting there to reply thousand email.

Hi

I agree with Babli, I just got the same copy paste which stated above regarding some stickers.

I am travelling towards end of june and this is just testing my patience. The service is apalling. We paid a lot of money for this service and wait 6 weeks and nothing happens.

Is there anything else they can recommend. I feel like sueing this guys. I don't know what it takes for a decent response

I am just hoping that "THE SYSTEM" will not reject our photos, especially our 9 month old's. It took half a day to get that photo and the guy charged me an arm and a leg for that silly picture.

Just for information sake, for anyone planning to go for OCI submission, starting 9th June, they will ONLY accept on appointment basis.

I'm getting No such record found message for all my family records.

Anyone else facing the same issue?
When I use British Passport number it showed me the status.

@prem that is seriously very slow? Was your application delayed due to photos or anything?

Nope. I sent a mail on 28th last month, and got the reply like everyone else got. I was worried about photos and fingerprints of my 2 year old. But, looks the process itself is slow and a max of 42 days is a joke.

you need more than a petition you need huge protest organised with vast number of people, so the media are made aware, then you will see change within hours, if you see the facebook page for the man incharge in birmingham, he is always touring europe, never at his desk!!!
