Also on the OCI application in passport section : do we need to fill indian passport details or british passport details?

I have applied 7 weeks ago but still showing UNDER PROCESS. Really frustrated with the process. I sent couple of emails to high commission but got same copy and paste message that 'we are waiting for printing of your oci sticker..'. I have waited so long for my OCI. I need to go INDIA bit urgently now. Can someone tell me whether I can apply for tourist visa in meantime and how long does it takes?

It should be easy to apply for a visa. I would suggest you apply for a 6 month Entry visa instead of tourist visa. For Entry visa you just need to show the proof of your Indian origin (surrender certificate) and the process is easy. Also it turns out to be bit cheaper than tourist visa.

I got the entry visa in 2-3 working days. BTW I am still waiting for my OCI. I traveled to India on Entry visa and now back in the UK waiting for OCI :-).

Hi Amity010,

Thank you so much for your reply. Could you tell me how long does this Entry VIsa valid for? i.e 3 months or 6 months. Is it only for Single entry? Is that be enough If I submit my Surrender certificate or do I need to provide any other documents?

Thanks

You can apply for 6 months (£67.20) or 1 year (£92.20) multiple entry

http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/entryvisa_fees.html

1. Fill up online form http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/
2. Once filled take a print of it and sign wherever required.
3. Documents required

- Original British passport
- Copy of British passport photo page (self attested)
- Copy of surrender certificate (self attested)
- Copy of cancelled Indian passport front page (self attested)
- Two 50x50 photographs
- visa fees

http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/entryvisa_CheckList.html

4. You can personally visit VFS and submit your application. They issue a token and you might have to wait for 30-40 mins if its busy.

5. They will ask you to collect it when ready. You can opt for text messaging facility (they charge you). They will email you and text you when the passport is ready for collection. You can then go and collect showing the receipt.

Took me just 2-3 days. Hope this helps.

You can make an another fresh application and submit. The online application is to just help you generate the PDF. There will be no issues if you generate the fresh one and submit.

Hello Babli,
All the information you need regarding collection is here https://www.hcilondon.in/oci.html , except, you only need to send one envelope for a family with just one return SD for the passport return.

The application for Oci can be only be made at the offices as per their code

GBRB (Birmingham)
GBRE (Edinburgh)
GBRL (London)

So a form with GBRB application can not be made at London or Edinburgh.

Avoid Birmingham like the plague, the staff are rude, ignorant, unhelpful and will look for any reason to turn you away. They will turn you away even if everything is correct. THey think everyone is uneducated. they are absolutely power mad.

London have just bought in appointment system which has had good reviews, but this was only after a petition signed by over 3000 people.
