.....................................The Eagle Has Landed.....................................

Eligibility criteria: 2yrs spouse + 1 yr ILR (Spouse of British Citizen)
Language criteria met: Life in the UK and B1
Method of application: NCS
Date of application: 29/04/2014
Payment method: Debit card
Date of receipt by UKBA: 30/04/2014

Date of approval received: 17/06/2014 (dated: 08/06/2014)(48 days in total)
Date ceremony invitation letter received: TBC
Date of ceremony: TBC

I have received the Approval letter and it says to contact the local council to arrange the ceremony and its kind of a 2 in 1 letter as the first paragraph confirms the approval of citizenship and the lower part of the letter explains what to do next so I assume that I won't receive any other letters from the council for the invitation as it clearly says at the top of the letter the Invitation for the Citizenship. :)

That's about right. In my case, the first evidence of a case worker was on the 76th day.

Hi Folks

Just received this from the NCS officer who I applied with

All our caseworkers is working in Passports for the next eight weeks so no one to talk to for us as well. We also will not receive much certificates during this time and all ceremonies for the next two months have been cancelled as per Home Office request. I have 73 applicants in this dread-full position.

This is NOT good news, but at least we now know the reason for any delays

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. :|

If this be true (and it may well be, as the passports scandal is huge), the main question is: are they going to extend the 90-day period, withing which we are supposed to pass the ceremony?

Well, it comes to mind first thing. They set the rule of 90 days, and we are bound by it. Then they take 60 days or so away, and there is no guarantee the councils can clear the backlog in the remaining 30+ days. So a lot of us risk losing everything, unless this is thought through and mitigated.

I understand why they may be doing this (the general election is about 10 months away, and the native masses, whose all-inclusives in Choo-nee-sia are in peril, are skillfully incited by The Daily Mail), and I don't mind waiting a bit longer, but it would be unfair if we may lose everything because someone forgot their own 90-day rule.

I assume that the HO won't send certificates out which will expire in the next two months, all Register Office's cancelled Ceremonies from now until September as per HO request. I would imagine that all certificates will be issued with this in mind.

But.....

At this point, your guess is as good as mine really. I will receive updates from time to time so I will know what action I need to take in order to ensure that I do not allow certificates to expire in my possession.

This is her response

Marie, since you have this insider info, please keep us posted!

September is fine by me, but I think we should check the calendar: what if there's some other major sporting event in the autumn? If that be so, more of the flower of the British nation will suddenly need passports. Then we may have to wait a bit more.

The information regarding the shift of caseworkers is not true. Maria1981 if the information you provided is really from nationality checking service then can you please provide us the name of the worker at NCS

By the way the home office denied this.

The info from marie1981 is not quite clear. Shifted caseworkers are mentioned, but the source (whose English is apparently not native) calles them "our caseworkers". Would that be HO caseworkers, or NCS (do they have any?)? Ad did the NCS officials ever really "talk to" HO caseworkes?

What looks more specific is that the ceremonies are cancelled for 8 weeks. Let's see if there is any confirmation of this. If that be true, surely more approved applicants will be told this when they call their councils.
