Hi all,

As I wrote last time, I got my approval letter on Thursday (19/Jun) after applying on 1/May. I called the council the next day and booked my citizenship ceremony for this Thu (26th).

Strange no one else has gotten the approval letter for past few days. Hope letters start flowing in soon.

ps. When I wrote my posting last Thu, I thought I was the first one in May because Shaheen's summary table showed that Easylion's application date is 2/Feb, so I thought he/she sent it in by post in Feb and was only acknowledged in May. I am guessing that's a typo and it is supposed to be 2/May?

Finally caved and called the 0300 number for a status update - apparently, my application has still not been assigned to a caseworker (6 May applicant). Was given the standard company line - wait 6 months blah blah.

Not sure how much I should be reading into this... I have an extremely straightforward application.

Sounds like the standard script.
I applied on the 6th of May as well, yesterday spoke to a senior case worker for return of some documents and also asked about any update. I was told that no decision has been made yet, which roughly equated to no update on their computer system.

But looking on the bright side applicants from 1st and 2nd may have started receiving replies, so hopefully by friday or early next week there should be some good news for us .

Good Luck !

I called in as well and was told that my application is still under consideration and no decisions as yet.
So even if they take decision tomorrow, I'll have to wait at least more than a week as letters take that long to deliver after being printed.
Oh well...let's just wait
Goodluck.

Thanks to one and all for acting as a trusted source/guidance during citizenship process.

I remember I posted my reply above today from work and when I checked my post, I found that I have recevied a confirmation letter today asking me to book a ceremony date. Once done, I will be provided with citizenship certificate at that ceremony.
Once thing to note is this letter is dated 18th June, 2014, meaning that it took 2 may - 18 june (roughly 32 business days) for decision.

Hope you all get your good news soon.

Eligibility criteria: ILR, 2013 based on Tier1 3 years + HSMP 2 years
Language /Life criteria met : Life in the UK cert +

Current nationality: Indian
Method of application: NCS, Manchester
Council name if NCS used: Manchester

Hey folks

Just received this today from the NCS officer with whom I applied with

All our caseworkers is working in Passports for the next eight weeks so no one to talk to for us as well. We also will not receive much certificates during this time and all ceremonies for the next two months have been cancelled as per Home Office request. I have 73 applicants in this dread-full position.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but at least there is a real reason for this!

No caseworkers from nationality team will be transferred to passport office, people should stop making up. They wont sort out a passport backlog and create another one for naturalisation applications. Home office staff said they heard nothing about this lie.

I have copied and pasted the email.
I am only passing on what I thought would be useful information and do not appreciate your tone Mhent, I have also not made anything up, your comments are not needed and I do not need to be made upset by yourself when this is already a stressful time

I applied from Brighton.

Marie1981, I'm guessing by NCS you mean Nationality Checking Service at your local council office. If that's right then they have nothing whatsoever to do with any decision making when it comes to naturalisation applications. They have two jobs,
1) Get your documents, photocopy them and send them over with your application form.
2) Once the successful decision have been taken (by your caseworker at UKBA) on your application, invite you to the ceremony and hand over the naturalisation certificate that was sent to them by UKBA.

They are not involved in any sort of decision making and in no capacity are they caseworkers. I'm pretty sure that the information provided to you by that council officer is total bullcrap. They're not even allowed to take your application fee directly.
Goodluck.
