Post by rajan1984 » Fri Jun 20, 2014 1:41 pm

I have applied as OCI family application ( 2 Adult and 1 Child ) and Date of Acknowledgement for all three of us is 28th April 2014.

My Child Status under OCT Status tracking is completed and Received to London.

However me and my wife's status is still under progress. Can any one let me know if you have come across same situation.

Can you please also let me know who to contact? Is this a software mistake?

My family applied for OCI at hci London on 07/05 yet no updates on printing status . We have to travel to India on 04/07 and I probably have to apply for a visa.

Should I choose to apply for tourist visa? How long will it take to obtain one?

What should I enter under Previous Visa/Currently valid Visa Details ? I have been to India many times on my Indian passport, and obviously did not require any visa, but unable to finish the form with out selecting a date.

I have only been to India during last 10 years, will this be classed as visiting as I was a citizen of India at that time, Should I leave this blank?

Has any one faced the same problems? Please guide me...

Many thanks

Ajit

Hi Ajit

I would suggest you apply for a 6 month Entry visa instead of a Tourist visa. This type of visa will be better for person of Indian origin waiting for OCI card. It will be cost effective as well as easier to apply. I did post the details a few days ago. You can find the details.

Regarding the previous visa/current visa details, you dont have to enter anything there. I believe you will have to fill those field only if you mention that you have been to India before. What they actually mean is whether you have been to India before on a Visa. Since you always traveled to India on your Indian passport, you will have to mention it as "NO". That is what I did when I applied for 6 months entry visa.

Hope it helps.

Hi Can anyone help..

I am planning to submit my OCI application via post. I live in Nottingham,
Please can anyone advise it is better to send application to Birmingham Consulate OR London High Commission Office? Is there any difference in processing time Birmingham/London applications?

Thanks in Advance.

Help Required!!.... I made an OCI application whilst out in India that has been granted in MHA Delhi but I am unable to collect as I am based in the UK.
I have email, wrote and faxed asking the MHA in Delhi to send OCI card to UK for collection but I have had no response. Any ideas what I can do short of going out to Delhi to collect?

I think it will be really close. Now a days its taking 7 weeks for the application to be processed and then another week to send your passport and get the OCI stamped. The application made on 10th might just be ok. But the applications made on 20th will be very doubtful (as it takes 2 weeks to ack and count 7-8 weeks from the ack date) .

They say that "in person" applications takes 6 weeks and postal applications 8 weeks. But now a days in person application is taking around 8 weeks . So I expect postal application to take 10 weeks. So I will leave it to you to do the maths :-) .

Thank you - thats really helpful! The HCI have surprisngly ack all three applications ( I was shocked that the two sent in the post were ack after 4 days). I did fax them and asked (nicely) if they could deal with all three together.. But I am a realist (and this is very doubtful!). When I was at the counter with mine, the very helpful lasy behind the counter seemed confident mine would be ready as I asked her specifically whether it was worth handing in or waiting until my return from India!
