So you reckon they approve applications in batches every 3 months? so if someone applies in late June, and doesn't get approved in July, they might have to wait until Oct to get approved?

Yes, I did the math.... what I'm wondering is, if someone sent in their application too early for their application to have reached the 2nd stage letter by the end of July, they would have missed the July round of approvals, so they would not get approved until october?

It all depend if all checks has been carried out and no further documentation or clarification is required. Most straight forward cases get approval within 3 months now and those from Northern Ireland get their's in under 2 months.Still depends when ur application enter 2nd stage of processing. It would also help if ur first and last name is unique,it may not need to dig further during ur background check.During my research,I found out that the department is quiet as to when background check is done on applicants,is it after being initially processed, or after the initial assessment. Most immigration lawyers I've come across states that 2nd stage of processing is when ur file is compiled and in line to be sent to the minister in batch. They might take weeks or months for that batch to complete. No one knows. The previous minister,"Alan Sharter" States that the only information necessary for the applicant is to know whether their application has been inniatially processed, bcos all processed commence further processing in chronological order.

Mr Alan Shatter shortened the Naturalisation process to 6 months to a decision, not 3 months. it seems that the new minister changed the system to how it was.
In April many cases has been approved in 3 months, that's clearly a matter of luck, it is unfair and not nice that some cases benefit from "luck" and others not, but it normally doesn't take 3 months at all..... :)

When u get a letter stating your application has moved successfully to second stage processing, this means, the basic checks have been made successfully and now it's in second stage, which is doing some background checks about you, and it takes months to be finalised.

Email or send a letter to the dept asking them to send all correspondences to your address. that's what my father did.

Try and contact your solicitor, I can't believe it was approved the same date a ceremony was going on, I am so happy.
