Received someone elses application! (who applied in Feb)

Post by Jellybean105 » Thu Jul 17, 2014 1:02 pm

So today, after 5 months of waiting, I received the next day envelope we sent with the original application but the package contains all documents of someone elses application!!!

How can they possibly get it so wrong?! I have written to the deputy caseworker find out immediately what has happened to our application!

I'm assuming this application was submitted around the 26th of February and they had an interview on the 26th of June.

Do you think our application as been sent to this applicant? (they have gone through a solicitor). Also, on the application it says their passports have been returned but there are no passports inside.

My husband will call him up soon but just thought I'd mention it on here too.

My husband called the solicitor and surprise surprise he doesn't really care! He said he gets lots of applications and for us to just return it to HO. I'm concerned about our application!

The application I have received is of a Pakistani married to an EEA national exercising EU treaty rights in the UK. The couple had an interview on the 26th of June. The applicants address is in High Wycombe.

If you are this person or think you are, please contact me. Thanks!

Oh Jellybean, you are being amazingly unlucky. This latest development is just the most incredible yet. Has the deputy chief caseworker replied? She normally has a mobile number on which to contact her if it's urgent, which this definetly is!

Btw, did this other applicant get their RC or was it a refusal?

I have emailed her and she did reply saying she will ask the caseworker and get back to me. That was 2 hours ago. I'm hoping she replies today!

Unfortunately, the applicant has been refused the RC.

You must be going out of your mind with worry. Send her another message conveying this if she doesn't get back to you soon. I know she works 8am to 8pm so I really hope you get a reply on this today.

Yeah, I saw the postman with the next day delivery envelope and I was over the moon. I ran in and opened it and was

Thankfully, I requested our passports back a while ago so we have those. I also requested my husbands Ireland 5 year GNIB card but that never came and I also submitted a 'not received form'. I just hope they haven't lost that!!

I'm wondering if they were just sending our application documents back? Or would it have had the outcome as well? And if not, why did they have our return envelope at hand when they had someone elses application!! GGGRRRR

Unless you had specifically requested your evidence back they will only return them to you with the decision letter included.

Everytime whenever this department transformed into new like from Home office to UKBA, then from UKBA to UKIV then instead of improving they start to work even worst and it is an example of that. You send all documents with a covering letter to them as a good moral act. And the victim must lodge a formal complaint to the higher department and ask for the immediate dismissal of the relevant culprit who did mishandling. Remember the UKBA, royal mail, London underground all are from one profitable industrial family with the mission of zero improvement in their services.

Sorry, I just read the first line it says applicant applied for RC on 3rd of March 2014! How do I change the title of the thread?

I wouldn't worry about this so much - you'd probably have to PM a moderator and ask them to change it - the main issue is to get someone in the UKVI/Home Office to tell you what has happened to your application. Have you still not heard anything? Have you tried calling the number on the chief caseworker's email?

She just got back to me now saying the COA will be sent this evening (probably out of guilt) and that a senior staff is investigating the documents issue. They better get it sorted! And maybe fire the caseworker working with my application in the process...

Np Jellybean, I've been thinking about you all day and hoping you'd get sorted.

FYI, the caseworker name on the COA may be, but is often not, the same as the caseworker name on the decision letter.

I think mr.hunter has correctly defined. Because i remember that when ukba converted into ukiv then one of my EU national friend received automatic reply for the return of requested passports but the fact was that they got EEA1 & EEA2 2 years ago and travelled as well to Europe. It clearly indicate that the new team has no experience or maybe they are temporary agency staff.

You really need to let the poor people who's document's you recieved that there information has been mishandled.

And you really shouldnt post the name of a caseworker on the form.

The people information you recieved should make a complaint at: http://ico.org.uk/concerns

They also might be eligible for compensation

Sorry, I did think I shouldn't post it but then I thought it might be okay as someone asked. How do I remove it? I'm sure there used to be an edit button on your own posts?!

I have tried to find some contact details of the applicant but theres no number. Thats why I thought I'd try and find them on here. I have his address so I could send them a letter I guess but I have no time to do that at the moment.

I'm just waiting for instructions from the caseworker I have contacted.

No worries, I am sure you will not really get into any trouble for posting the caseworkers name as it is most likely public knowledge and could be gained by a simple FOI request, nevertheless you never know in these situations.

You may want to cause a stink with your own application though, tell your caseworker that you are now concerned about your own application being mishandled, ask them for details regarding who there data protection office is and if you should make data request to make sure the reason for the delay in your case being handled so slowly is because it got misplaced maybe?

I have emailed the deputy caseworker and she said she has a senior officer look into the documents issue. I'm not sure if shes finding out about my case or what to do with the wrong application.

Im going to wait for todays post to see if shes sent us the right COA and then will email again to chase up my application.

It could be that they have misplaced it! But we got our passports back from a request a while back. A month ago I requested my husbands ireland resident card which we havent got back yet so not sure what is going on!!

I received a letter today apologising for the delay in sending the (right) COA and also for sending someone elses documents. They have enclosed the long COA back dated to March (not that that makes any difference whatsoever!) and a return envelope for me to return the wrong documents!

Congratulations, seems like they are right quick to fix things when they end up making a mistake.
