I have been watching this board for the past six weeks or so and it gave me that "maybe tomorrow" hope... thanks for that. Loud knock on the door woke me up this morning - worth it as it was my BRP!

4 March - applied via post
19 March - Biometrics letter received
20 March - Biometrics submitted
...Long pause...
17 July - BRP received, waiting for documents

So, just over 19 weeks? My last BRP actually expired on February 22 but since our bank took their sweet time sending me our statements, I ended up applying late but within a 4 week grace period (not well advertised but told over the phone). Would not recommend sending in late if you can help it as it makes you an overstayer and potentially not have the right to appeal if the application is rejected for any reason. In the end, a massive relief!

Good luck to everyone here. It will come.

Ally
Congratulations!!!! We applied about the same time as you, but didn't get invited for our biometrics until after you. Do you mind me asking how you paid? We paid by cheque and my theory is that it's delayed us by about a week compared to those who applied at the same time.

Hi and thank you.

I paid with a debit card and it looks like payment was taken on the 7th of March - they didn't delay there at all!! Now let's see if we can finally leave the country to visit my family without spending a fortune on airfare....

I phoned again today. Got the standard your application is being processed. They started processing March applications on the 8th of July. They would not be pushed on how long it takes, only that it should be within 6 months :-(

Anyone else agree with me that 6 months is too long? I'm looking at starting a change.org petition to get it debated in parliament. If I did this would you sign?

This is our lives they have in their hands and to have to put them on hold for this long is not fair.

ASKIM

yes I agree with you. but don't forget we the ILR applicants are the most advantaged among the immigrant applicants. the plight and experience of other immigration categories is absolute miserable....
yes someone does need to speak up about all this.

I completely agree. If it takes this long for us then I dead to think about other applicants not as fortunate as us. The system is not right.

I don't mind signing it. At least they should put a tracking system online as they charged an awful lot of money to process this application.

Hello All,

Firstly, I want to say thank-you all for posting your application dates and discussions. I have always been a read only member but I vowed I would share my visa story to give others hope.

We applied 5th March 2014. The same day my husbands settlement visa expired. Long story short, we became very settled and thought nothing about visas until the week before when we realised it was that dreaded time. Our application arrived the same day of expiry on his passport. This meant his visa status would remain the same until a decision was made.

Having not thought about all the documents we needed, we didn't have all the documents requested. My husband had no documents in the same address as us for a whole year. We lived with my parents for a year and a half and had very little in the way of formal letters.

We also changed our address after the visa application had been submitted. Last week, we received a letter requesting more documentation for the periods missing, along with the past 3 months wage slips and bank statements for both of us. We sent our wage slips and bank statements and a letter explaining once again that we did not have the documentation requested.

By this point, I had convinced myself we would be going back to Turkey or going through an appeal process. Today, my husband finally received his ILR.

All you July applicants should receive a very welcome knock on the door with a package very soon. Stay positive!
