I know what you mean but the system has been temperamental to be honest!
Yep, which is what I wanted to check if the system is actually behaving badly at the moment! Or it is specifically related to my application. Thanks for your help.

Got a friend to check, and he got the same response, so it looks like it is the website indeed.

I just checked it and it worked fine for me. Worth checking the numbers when inputting?

Thanks, doesn't work for me still with the file reference number. Perhaps, as you said, using acknowledgement number might though i don't have it on me now. Anyone else having problems retrieving their status?

Apparently after 3-4 weeks, the system changes to use British passport number. I used my British passport number this time, and it worked. Document printing status: Processed on 06-Aug-2014. Phew!!

Dispatched From MOIA (OCI ) NEW DELHI On: tbc

Experience: took appointment on Friday evening for an appointment following Monday morning, 9.30am. Easy process for getting filling up Part-A and Part-B of the form, and then taking appointment based on reference number. Reached HCI London at 9.15am, showed the appointment letter to the security officer. No queues, no haggling, no pushing and shoving. It was heavenly! And when i entered inside, there was ample number of empty seats and breathing space, which was a pleasant change from our previous experiences. Counters opened at 9.30am, two case workers calling out the names of people with appointment. Perhaps 15-20 applicants at each half-hour slot, as we were perhaps the 12th to be called and there were others after us with the same appoinemrnt time. Quick 5 minutes at the counter as I had all the required documents organised:

1. Application form (only one set) with photograph pasted and duly signed/fingerprinted in case of minors
2. Naturalisation certificate copy of each applicant self-attested
3. British passport copy of each applicant self-attested
4. Surrender certificate of each applicant self-attested
5. Birth certificate of minor only self attested (attested by father/mother in case minor unable to sign)
6. Fees in cash

I was given the receipts and asked to check online after 4-6 weeks. We were out of the HCI by 10am which included a few minutes of using the restrooms after completing the application formalities.

Note: while checking status on the website 3-4 weeks after submission, please use British Passport number instead of Indian passport number.

Interesting :)

Not sure it is quite logical to use a foreign passport number while checking on a Government of India website! But it is what it is...

On the other hand, I am very sure that it is not logical to use the number of a a passport that has been revoked and no longer valid (Indian Passport).

Also, one can apply for OCI without ever having an Indian passport, so this number can never be Indian Passport number.

Both for tracking surrender of Indian Passport and OCI, I have used British Passport number and that is what everyone is expected to use. There is no such concept like this passport till this stage and this passport from that stage etc.

My updated timelines are :

Applied in-person at High Commission : 25 June 2014
Date of acknowledgement: 25 June 2014
Documents Printing Status PROCESSED : 30 July 2014
Dispatched From MOIA (OCI ) NEW DELHI On: 31 July 2014
Document received At London On: 01 Aug 2014
Post passport by Special Delivery : 02 Aug 2014
Documents received at HCI london: 04 Aug 2014 (received by Manju @ HCI)
Received stamped passport and OCI booklet on: 08 Aug 2014 (using self addressed Royal Mail Special Delivery)

There is slight issue with my OCI booklet printing. The passport number on the back page is partially overwritten by place of issue. Strangely this is case with my and spouse booklets only. The kids OCI booklets are fine. Can someone please confirm whether they have also faced the same issue?

I shall be contacting HCI to get this corrected but it will be helpful if some else can also check and confirm.

Has any one applied at CGI Birmingham in the month of July seen a status change ?
I applied for me and my family (2 adults + 2 kids) on 2nd July at Birmingham, the online status is still showing as "Under Process"..

I just signed the petition "Rt Hon Theresa May, MP,: Allow unconditional permanent right of residence in U.K. to parents of all U.K. Citizens - not just to those within EEA countries" on Change.org.

Please do...

Do not want to sound negative but it is a fact that this government is not going to listen to this. If anything they may bring another law to differentiate between the british citizen by birth, from EEA origin and not EEA origin.

Going by the current public sentiment, even if there is a different government they will do nothing as well.

Knocking the door of the court is only solution. Not sure why there is no initiative for that. HSMP case was won and i am reasonably confident that this will be won too. If anyone takes such initiative, i will jump to contribute and raise my voice.
