Marriage certificate missing. Will it be a problem for ILR?

Post by akodalikar » Tue Aug 12, 2014 9:32 am

Hi Guys,

I am bit nervous now as could not locate the marriage certificate and going for in person appointment for ILR with my wife and kid. I have one copy of it but can not find the original one.

Is it a must document to be shared when applying for ILR with wife? Is there any way I can avoid any trouble here, if any. Please advise. Many thanks in advance.

Mate,

It also depends on which category you and your wife are applying?
And when did your dependant wife joined you (ie before 2 years? Before July 2012?)

If you are applying as Tier 1/2/ICT and your wife joined you before 2 years as PBS dependent, and got entry clearance as PBS dependent due to marraige back home, you dont have to submit one.

Regards

Since Aug 2009, I have been in the UK for last 5 years on Tier 2 (Intra-Comapny Transfer) visa and my wife have been with me for more than 3 years with me. She entered UK on dependent visa with me.

Also I have a copy of the marriage certificate but can not find the original one. Hope this will not create any issue.

Hi Aravind,

Yes my wife joined me before July 2012 as PBS dependent.

Absolutely no worries then mate. Just provide co-habitation proofs for last 2 years. That is more than sufficient.
Dont forget LIUK + English language for both of you.

Many Thanks Aravind.

We have cleared Life in the UK test. About English requirement, I have PBS Self assessment summary which shows 10 points for Qualification. I hope this enough to prove the english. Please confirm.

2) For my spouse- my dependent- she has got Uni letter confirming that the degree was tought and examined in English. Please confirm if that is enough to prove English requirement.

Just want to make sure that I am not going ahead with any risk. Thanks in advance.

Comment deleted. I thought your spouse entered after July 2012.
