You can not involove MP before their standard processing time which is currently 6 months.

You was lucky that you got your approval in April. Ask who applied on last dates of April and May (unfortunately I am one of them). This whole delay is caused by passport backlog. Citizenship approvals directly impact passport applications so they slowed processing these applications deliberately and staff was moved to passports department. There are a lot of news on BBC and daily-mail about the mess.

As difficult as it is to wait - just remember that they advise 6 months - there is no point pushing until you're at least around 5 months in (150-160 days). The waiting is just painful.
Just remember, British citizenship is seen as a privilege, not a right - don't push too hard on the home office - you'll inadvertently put a spot light on yourself that may make them take longer...
Hopefully we all get the result we want soon!

I gave Wandsworth council a call to book ceremony, but they don't have certificate yet. The lady said they are now only doing one ceremony a month instead of weekly as before since there's such a backlog with certificates from the HO.

Hope we close April off soon and thanks for the support!

still waiting too, it has been 5 months now.

Applied beginning of April, received a call around 1st or 2nd of June from the caseworker (a question related to the application), I obviously asked the caseworker how long the application would take and the response was: "you should receive a response within two weeks" but I waited and waited and it never came... I guess it must be related to the whole passport mess because it was around that time... it is quite frustrating to see people who applied much later receiving approvals, I think my application is just sitting in some 'forgotten applications' pile.

Does anyone know whether the (in)famous 6m period starts with the date the HO receives the application or if it starts from the date on the acknowledgement letter?

I don't understand how does it work? what are they doing for so long. most of the cases are straight forward. and why is it not first in first out? do they have any system whatsoever??
I think mine is in 'forgotten pile' as well

Hi Libbi11, We are all in same boat, its been 5 months for me as well, applied 09th April.
I called them yesterday and the usual response, wait for 6 months and he said your application is well within that timeline.

when I asked him what can I do after 6 months his response was, we can then give you reason why its been delayed for so long

Same here applied on April acknowledgement letter was received on 7/04/2014 after that waited until july before made a call to HO they replied your application in progress everyhing looks ok you will be notified if there is any issue since that its been waiting game, i have never waited for my post man but now his like a celebrity looking out for him everday morning, even when i m at work calling my wife to see anything arrived but as usual nothing. I pray that we all recive a good news soon, please keep us updated if you hear anything

I have been silently following this thread since i made my application in April until today i got my approval letter.

I thought i should share my timeline to encourage others waiting to get their approval.

Method of application: NCS
Date of application: 25th April 2014
Payment method CC/DC, Personal cheque, Bankers cheque etc: CC
Date of receipt by UKBA: 28th April 2014
Date of acknowledgment: 14th May 2014
Date of debit or clearance of fees: 12 May 2014
Date approval received: 05/09/2014
Date of ceremony: TBC

I know its really to keep waiting for the approval letter after several months and especially when people who applied after you are getting approval letters. I wish all guys waiting the best and hopefully, you will get yours soon.

The white envelope(aka the brown) finally arrived, it did include the registration certificate as this was for my son. My timelines below
