Hello all, technically if your application is going to take longer than six months you should have been contacted and informed of this. This also should have occurred within 12 weeks of your application. Have any of you received any correspondence from the UKVI since receiving your acknowledgement letter? (yes I have a bit of a bee in my bonnet about this...)

Did not get anything since the acknowledgment in third week of April.
Called the Nationality team.
The reply was:You have submitted application only three months ago.Calling us would not help. Our standards are .......97%of the applications decided within six months.

me too. still waiting. applied 7 Apr, received by the HO 8 Apr.
I received a call from my caseworker with a question about my application around end may-begining of june. the caseworker told me to expect the result 'within a couple of weeks', but I never heard anything back.
calling the home office only yields the typical 6m response.

Applied on 29th of April NCS Croydon
Acknowledgement received dated 13th of May
Approval letter received 12th September dated First of September.

Please be patient and hope for the best.

Hi everyone,

This is my first post and I am looking for some advice please. I have lived in the UK since April 1997 and I have had ILR since November 1998. My ILR is stamped in my old South African passport, which expired in 2002. I have never renewed my passport, because I have never travelled outside of the UK since I moved here. I recently applied for British citizenship on April 11th 2014 and I am still waiting for a decision. Is it okay that I applied with my old passport?
I have recently been offered a new job with the council, which is a great opportunity for me, however, because my only proof of ILR is stamped in my old passport, I cannot start my new job yet. Luckily they have kept the job open for me until November as they know I am in the process of applying for citizenship. I'm not sure whether to wait for hopefully being awarded citizenship or to apply for an NTL. The 6 months expected waiting time is up on October 11th 2014, so should I just wait to see if I get citizenship?

I appreciate any replies

Kind regards

You can request your passport to be sent back to you while you wait. It takes 2 to 4 weeks for passport to come back so it's better to request it just in case. HO can ask for it to be sent back to them if required again.

Good luck

I have got all my documents back, but the stamp in he old passport isn't good enough these days? HO are saying I need a BRP now, which will replace my old ILR stamp in my expired passport. I'm just hoping that my citizenship decision comes through soon, because it's been over 5 months waiting so far

I didn't ask for your sarcasm, but thanks anyway! I was just wondering if it was normal for them to take the whole 6 months.

Hi

For all those who have been waiting for 4 months or so, I would suggest to call HO at least once.

I had submitted MN1 for my daughter using NCS on 9th May.

I waited and called them only once on 10th Sep morning around 11 am and was told that application is under consideration and I should expect the outcome in next 2 weeks.

Surprisingly, I got the certificate on 13th Sep with Certificate date of 10th Sep and Cover Letter dated 11th Sep. Somehow, I feel they may have pushed the application on the same day(I have read abt such cases where application been pushed immediately after receiving enquiry call). So, I would suggest to give a call to them at least once and hope for the best in next few days.

Thanks

thanks for your advice. I called the HO today and was told my application is under consideration. asked why others that submitted same time as me have all got their reply,he said it doesn't matter as long as its within the 6months frame. I am really hoping to hear some good news soon. Thanks

Hi dsr87

It seems you mistook my comment as a reply to your post. That was simply my post as I am totally frustrated with the wait and cant believe they are taking my application right to the six month deadline. This whole waiting thing is annoying and I understand your stress so don't worry and keep strong they will eventually send us our infamous brown envelope.
