Where was your last Indian passport issued from?
Is the copy you have clear one? also check if the passport number on the surrender cert matches with it.

Hi Folks,
Please could someone clarify? My wife and our two kids are applying for their OCI cards.
Is the fee £175 for the application or is it £175 x 3?

Many thanks if you can help.

Quick question about OCI supporting documents. Taking info from https://www.hcilondon.in/oci.html , section C,

1) It says copy of Naturalisation certificate whereas it states photocopy of the applicant's foreign passport. So for postal applications do I need to include the original and copy of the naturalisation certificate or is the copy enough. Further down it also states "All the original documents may please be sent (except British/foreign passport where only a copy is required) with one set of self-attested photocopy of the documents with the application."

2) If submitting the surrender certificate , is there a need to send the Indian passport?

3) Read somewhere that for people born in India, they need to provide birth certificate from municipal panchayat. Is this true, does having an indian passport not cover that?

Thanks in advance.

If you got your originals back, go here and fill in your passport number and date of birth to get the required details about your application.

OCI Application Method : By Post (First Class)
OCI Application Date : 16-AUG-2014
Online Registration No/Web-File Number : GBRLNXXXXXXX (1)
File Acknowledgment Number: GBRLYYYYYYYY (2)
Date Of Acknowledgment: 26-AUG-2014
Registration Status at Mission: LONDON
Documents Printing Status :
Dispatched From MOIA (OCI) NEW DELHI on:
Document received At LONDON On:
Passport sent On:
Passport Delivered back to me On:
OCI- Number:

Mentioning following points as could not find clearly mentioned in the forum -

(1) When we generate the online PDF form, the ref number on that is what HCI calls as the "Online Registration No" on the http://passport.gov.in/oci/statusEnqury page.
If we go to http://passport.gov.in/oci/forgotRegis and use passport number and date of birth, they also call it "Web-File Number".

(2) We need to explicity go online to http://passport.gov.in/oci/statusEnqury page and "check status online using your Application Reference and Passport Number" per the acknowledgment letter that is posted back to you. That will display the File Acknowledgment Number which is a totally seperate number which HCI does not mention in the ack letter.

Do not think point 2) is correct. It may well be the case that postal application receives different acknowledgement (I doubt ) but while submitting in person in HCI, the receipt I got definitely had File (Acknowledgment) No. and many people have used that number to successfully track their application.

There have been times when because of system glitch, only File Acknowledgement No. works.

I agree with Akash08 I got the slips with all the numbers needed to track as well.

Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI)

Post by juliemjohn » Wed Sep 17, 2014 8:34 am

Dear Friends

Would you know when to commence tracking the OCI Application submitted. I submitted my application in London on the 05th Sept 14.

I tried to track, but comes up with them asking some weird questions.

Thank you
