The refusal letter we received is from Liverpool and signed on 'behalf of the sec of state' so I'm assuming shes not our caseworker. The original application was sent to Durham.

Where should we send the application for re consideration? Durham or Liverpool?? Please answer quickly as we want to send it today. Thanks!

To whom it may concern, you may as well address it to the secretary of state herself.

How long do re-considerations usually take? Do they send you a letter if they are going to look over it again or will they just reply with another outcome?

I'm becoming really impatient :(

jellybean,

I received a letter today, dated Sept 22 that says my application was reconsidered and that I will be issued with a RC. I sent my letter of reconsideration on the 16th of Sept, i think - check my other posts for an exact date. I was advised to email Linda Bateman at Linda.Bateman@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk - there are a slew of other email addresses in the "sticky" UKVI contacts thread.

I forwarded my letter of reconsideration to every email address listed on that sticky.

Check your private messages.

Jbminger

Did your letter say you had to send in your passport? They already know we had requested our passports back for travel, so I'm assuming they will give it on paper. Also, if they issue it on paper, we can enter the country with that right?

I emailed Ms LB (as I have been in contact with her previously about some other problems during our process) and I send her the reconsideration letter, all scanned documents including boarding passes and proof of my stay in the UK.

She replied that we have received the reconsideration request and the documents attached will also be considered.
You will hear from us shortly.

So.. how quick is shortly?! Any idea?

Hi jellybean,

It was about 2 weeks in my situation, see the timeline below. The letter I received on 1/10 asked me to forward them my passport so that the vignette could be issued. I had previoussly asked for our passports to be returned for travel, etc. I spoke to someone at the HO, and I asked if the vignette could just be issued on paper, she didn't exactly say "no", but she said she thought it was better to have it issued in the passport so it didn't get all "tatty" or lost... I tend to agree with that, and I'm happy the RC is in my passport. Also, I didn't feel like arguing the point and just wanted the RC, so I sent in my passport. If I were you, I'd give them a week, and contact Ms. LB to ask if there are any updates. Good luck!

18/9/14 - UKVI Received “Letter of reconsideration"
1/10/14 - Received Letter from UKVI that my application has been reconsidered and that "you are going to be issued with a residence card" It asks me to forward them my passport so they can issue the vignette.

Hi there

While my husbands application is under reconsideration, how can he prove his status in the UK is legal? We are looking to rent a place and the landlord needs proof of a visa. Would the Ireland resident card be enough? What if they don't understand what 'spouse of an EEA citizen' means?

If anyone can advise. Thanks!
