Hello and congratulation to everyone who has received their answers so far.

I had a question for all of you relating to the return of documents. Did you receive them at the same time as the approval letter, before or after?

I have applied on 12 august as well. Haven't heard back anything. Called home office today only to be told that it is in s progress. And it might take 6 months,.. Standard answer. Wish they had a online tracking. So frustrating...

My Referees were not contacted during the process, I guess that is only randomly.

Globalindian,

I think it is just matter of time, I have been told by my council that HO issues the letter based on location of the council and also they do in batches so that people get the approval letter atleast 2 days after they issue. The reason is so that the HO can send the Naturalisation certificate to the respective council. So unless some one has any issue with the application I see this more as matter of time. In my case letter was issued on 20th but it reached only today.. the reason is only because so that they can make sure Naturalisation certificate reaches the council in time.

Hope this information helps. Good luck I know waiting is frustrating but again they clearly say that 6 months is their SLA..

Thanks vivdubes. Appreciate your support. Once again congratulations to you.

Just one daft question. Was the confirmation letter send in first class delivery or second class. In the event the letter being lost in transit should we keep calling the council to check if they have received any such confirmation mail. That might be another way of tracking.

In fact I had called the council as well and they have said that they don't receive any such information prior. :( Fingers crossed.

Cheers

Hi All,

Dashboard Update !

I know this dashboard update brings you a mixed feelings for different people here in this forum and forum around Aug timeline (I mean June, July, Sep, Oct, etc.) and those who has not posted their information in any of the forum as well.

It brings joy for some of those who have received approvals, Sad / frustration for those who would have expected to get approvals by this time (take my example), brings hope for those applied at the end of Aug and in the month of Sep.

Despite these I think frequent update will help all of us here. I have also reduce the processing time line to 60 working days from 65 working days in the current approval pattern. I know this does not give you exact approval pattern but I think still helps to keep our hope alive.

Congratulations to all those who have received their approvals and hoping to get good news soon for all of us those who are expecting their outcomes, finger crossed.

Globalindian,

Deliberately they sent letters 2nd class so that you dont get this information that your application is approved and also to manage council activities as they have to prepare the ceremony. In my council they dont have private ceremonies so no choice other than to wait, anyways I wont get much affected as I dont have any travel plans also I dont want to spend any more extra dosh :D .

One can do the following by calling the HO (every 2 days) and ask him about the status as you have to book holidays.

Calling council I dont think is going to make much of help but every council is different so call them and get the whole procedure as that would help to calm nerves a bit (when to expect what). My council doesnt share any information about who got approval or whether one got approved, they only ask if you have recieved the HO letter as they would look for a particular reference # from the approval letter starting with 9...

But again as I said this spreadsheet is great way as well, I am sure they (HO) are working behind and there is a pattern which is followed, that is what I felt today when I was talking to the council guy.

Good luck

Just being curious about my case, as 6 years ago not far from coming to UK I have changed name with a deed poll, not just a spelling but took totally different nice western name and surname. My previous first and last names were translated twice from my native languages and back and eventually written in latin characters, as they came into my passport, not pronounceable at all, neither for locals nor for myself, multiple consonants that's it..

My home country did not allow to change names at all, so that made my life to nightmare, with multiple phone calls where I had to introduce myself and resulting 30% misspeling and further issues with correcting. The worst was no one would want to employ person with such a name which he/she cannot pronounce. So once I got the opportunity I changed the name, living all 6 years with old-named passport of my home country and my new-nice-name rest of the documents - banks, driving license, council tax, employments etc.

So I wonder how the fact of such a name change can affect my application? It may look quite suspicious to case workers so that they start doing additional check and requests. How far (and how long) can they go with it? Do they have any deadlines after when they are obliged to perform a decision?

By the grace of God, I received mine and my son 's citizenship approval today. I received approval in a single brown envelope (normal not A4) for me. This letter has got both approval as well as invite for citizenship ceremony. Checked with registrar office, my son 's certificate has arrived in the registrar office but I am still waiting for the letter. They checked with the home office, both the letters were sent on the same day, So my Son 's letter should be arriving anytime.

My expected timeline was 29-10-2014 on the dashboard and it hit the exact date - Wow what a perfect prediction !

Eligibility criteria: 5 Yrs + 1 Yr ILR
Applicant: Self + 1 Child
Current nationality: Indian
Method of application: NCS (Manchester)
Date of application by NCS / Post: 04-08-2014
Date of receipt by UKBA: 05-08-2014 (Royal mail tracking)
Payment method CC/DC, Personal cheque, Bankers cheque etc: CC
Date of debit or clearance of fees: 13-08-2014
Date of acknowledgment: 18-08-2014
Date approval received: 29-10-2014 (Letter Dated 21-10-2014) :) :D
Date of ceremony: 31-10-2014 (Arranged Private - £75) :) :D

I wish Good Luck to you all for your approvals and hopefully you should receive your approvals soon.

I will keep on updating the spreadsheed and provide help in this forum, please let me know if you have any query.

I need to apply citizenship for my wife now, so possibly I will keep posting in Oct 14 timeline as well for my wife.

Thank you all for your co-operation and making this forum success !

Congratulation to everyone who got his approval letter.

dks100: I asked the Manchester council about a private ceremony (next day) but they told me that it would cost £100. But you mentioned that it woul £75 in your case? do you know the reason for this?

all the best

Hi friday,
In between I moved to Sale so my new council is Trafford and they do it at £75 but NCS is £10 costlier, It is £60 instead of £50. I think you can do with other council as well provided they send the certificate to other council, Check with them.

Thanks dks100 for your clarification.

I was just curious. It seems that different councils have difference prices.

I have got my certificate yesterday via a private ceremony at £100. It took about 10 min! Make sure you take both approval and the invitation letter with you when you go to the ceremony.

Hope all goes well for you.

I have not received any approval lettter separately, I got single letter only which says that my british citizenship has been approved and you should arrange the ceremoney within 21 days with the local council and council name is given at the bottom.

Am I missing something here?
