It's been 3 weeks since they received it (according to the Post Office tracking ref) and payment still hasn't been deducted, so I'm starting to get nervous! Barclaycard said about 10 days ago that they hadn't blocked any payment, but didn't deal with the part of my inquiry that asked them to make sure they didn't do so in future so I'm not sure whether I need to check with them again.
I called my credit card company too today, they said they didn't block any payment either.
My application receipt date was 27th Oct, I am in the same boat as you. This is very frustrating.

Looks like those that submitted by post or via solicitor are getting special expedite treatment..

yea I noticed that too.. Y is dat? I thought Gng thru NCS was the best/quick option... Got a question.. Dunno if any1 can help! Once we get the approval and book for ceremony and get the certificate.. What happens to the indefinite leave to remain. Because I was reading. When we apply for passport (first time) application. It takes 6-8 weeks. I will be travelling abroad in January. So wondering if the ceremony is done by den and I have become a British citizen. Although I will travel on my non-British passport. On my way back to the UK. Will they let me enter the country on ILR or I will have to have British passport coz I will be a British citizen den? Hope it made sense.. :P

I believe your ILR is cancelled when you're granted BC. If you are travelling on a non EEA+Switzerland passport, just take the certificate of naturalisation with you. They can't refuse entry to a British citizen.

Hmmm thanks for quick reply... But dun they have to stamp the passport once u enter the country. My non British passport won't have valid visa on it to be stamped?

You're a British citizen, there is no reason to stamp your foreign passport. If fact, I don't see why you wouldn't be allowed to use the EU queue as well.

Your foreign passport proves your identity and the certificate of naturalisation proves you're British.

If you're travelling with an airline that requires you to declare your citizenship, I would suggest not to select British until you have a passport. Technically I don't see why they should complain, but if you want to avoid delays, best not to confuse them.

Sorry but I dont agree but it doesnt mean im right.
If a british person wants to travel he needs to get a passport. He cant just show a paper saying hes british
I would call either ho and ask them or ask it here in a new topic. Im sure someone has the right answer

@paperthin
Naturalisation certificate is not a travel document. The only travel document UK has is British Passport.

@ Malikxxx and Paperthin - can we stop using the October Timeline thread for general travel discussions please. Create a new thread if you have a question.

Just to clarify as the incorrect information is being given, if you have attended your ceremony and need to travel before applying for a British Passport, you can still travel on your foreign passport and ILR BRP and you can carry your naturalisation certificate with you. You will still need to complete a landing card as a foreign passport holder and join the queue.

As 'Akhurshid' has said, a naturalisation certificate is not a travel document.

That is strange that Barclaycard couldn't deal with your enquiry because it is quite common for credit card companies to block big payments to avoid fraud. I called mbna after sending my application and customer service transferred me to their fraud prevention team. I explained the situation to which the adviser said she will put a note on the system for a month that if home office applies for £906 please authorise it as i notified them in advance with precise information of the amount.
Call barclaycard and if possible ask them to transfer you to fraud prevention team.

Good luck
It wasn't that they 'couldn't' deal with my enquiry, because I was in the States at the time I sent my question via their message service rather than calling. I basically asked 'has x been blocked, and if not could you please make sure that it doesn't get blocked in the future?' and they sent me an automated response which addressed 1 but not 2.

I spoke to them on the phone today and they said they definitely haven't blocked it, and that they'd put a note on the system not to do so. So now I'm worried!Thanks for your response.

Folks: A question please;
what is Biometric card for me? Its mentioned on Receipt of Acknowledgment as one of the required information, where relevant.

Thanks alot.
It's a small plastic card (the size of a credit card), and has your immigration status and photo (for most of us, it's our proof of ILR). They used to record the information in passports, but stopped a few years ago. Is this what you mean?

Yes that's what i meant. I switched from UK immigration to EEA regulations before they started this biometric card systems. So i never had these done at all. And as far as i know from others, this is not relevant to EU citizens and their family members, under EU regulations.
My passport has all this info but they only have the photocopy of it(through NCS), so i still haven't submitted any prints for biometric data to any UK authority, directly. Feels like something is missing.....

Hi YankeeKiki,

Only about 2 hours ago, I finally saw a 906 deduction from my available credit balance on my credit card account. The receipt date was 27th for my application. It took them that long to put the transaction through. Your application date is later that mine. So yours is probably going to go through in this week or coming week.

What a relief for now, I thought there was some problem with my card.
Hope this will give you some idea for the timing as well.

Payment method: credit card
Date of receipt by UKBA: 27/10/14

Bit slower now then - up to the middle of the month it seemed to be about two weeks.

Am hoping that despite the odd pattern here on the forum re EU citizens, that EU applications will nonetheless start being processed quickly...
