Congratulations Chandu.
Do you remember, if you wrote your name in the boxes for Section 9 of application or you just signed and dated it?

Thanks,

Congratulations Ronnie,

May I know if the counter signing person needs to write the name of the child in section 10 or only the name of the parent please?

Thanks

Hi Mah

If the application is for Adult we just need to Sign and Date it ( WE SHOULD NOT WRITE OUR NAME).
If the application is for child, we need to write one of the parents name and the parent should date and sign it.

Hope thats clear

I am applying for my passport and my kid tomorrow (check and send)
I have still 2 questions. Can you please help?
1. In section 10 for a child applicant, there is one part which says
"I can confirm that I have known the person named in section 2, or in the case of a child, the adult filling in section 9 (Insert their name)

should the countersigning person, writes the name of the child or the name of the parent (who signed section 9) or both!!?

NAME OF THE PARENT and you have to write parents name in section 9 of the form ( AS IT IS CHILD APPLICATION )

2. In section 9 for adult applicant, Is it enough to sign and date or the applicant should write the name in the boxes provided?

Dear Chandu,

many thanks. Much appreciated.

I am doing my ceremony tomorrow and after finishing it I am going to the post office (check and send)for passport application on the same day. I will take the forms with me, + photos, current passports and the naturalisation certificate. I only need to add the cerificate numbers in the form I think. Hope I am not missing anything else.

Does the post office take the money for application as well or just their own service fee?

Post office takes the application money as well as their check and send fee. Once you pay, post office will give you a reference number, which you need to use in your communication with passport office ( if at all, if you need to talk about your application )

Thanks again Chandu,

Regarding grandparents details, I have written more information on a piece of paper and signed it. Though regarding their date of Birth and marriage, I don't have any details so I wrote "UNKNOWN". Did you submit such thing? Or do you think it is not necessary at all?

Passport for: Adult
Application Type: New (Naturalised Citizen) - First Adult Passport
Method of application: Online
Date of application: first week of Nov
SMS confirming receipt by IPS: none
Date of return of documents: 15 Nov
Date of receipt of interview letter: 14 Nov
Date of Passport Appointment: 21 Nov
Date of Passport printing sms receipt: 24 Nov
Date of Passport Receipt: 25 Nov

I made some mistakes on the online application - didn't realise I need to put parent's information (I thought I was old enough to do things without parents!). So it takes a bit longer than others. Also on thing to note, if you make any mistakes on the application form online, they will ask you to REDO the WHOLE FORM, INCLUDING PHOTOS & SIGNING. They said this is because I do it online, so they cannot change everything I wrote on it. So perhaps it will be a good idea to do check and sent, rather than online if you want it very quick. After I send the form back, everything go very smooth and quick. I had my appointment on Friday and my passport on Tuesday.

People who applied last week please share your updates. Did you receive your supporting documents. I'm travelling to India on 17th Dec and expecting my indian passport before that. I took a big risk by applying today.

Dear Friends,
I am applying for passport today (naturalised first passport-check and send).
Regarding grandparents details, I am writing more information on a piece of paper and signing it. Though regarding their date of Birth and marriage, I don't have any details so I want to write "UNKNOWN". Have you done this too? Does the word "UNKNOWN"make problem? Or do you think this extra paper is not necessary at all?

It depends on knowledge of the person in PO.
Normally they will ask you to include everything even though its not required. That usually happens when they are not properly trained which is most of them.

Paper part should be enough and you shouldn't have any problem with writing UNKNOWN for information that you don't have.

Thanks,
When I got the forms from the post office I asked and they didn't care if I have info about grandparents. So do you mean if the Post Office doesn't ask, then I don't need to give that paper?

Hi Mah

Yes I have written my Grand Parent Details on the piece of paper and signed it. If you dont know the dates, then I guess put UNKNOWN. My suggestion would be even if Post Office does not ask for Grand Parent Details send the paper along, so that there is nothing wrong sending Grand Parent Details and thats what I did.

Best of Luck for your ceremony

Regards

Hi Rahel,

No they didn't. But I included them based on the advice I got in this forum to be on the safe side.
