Settlement v/s Non-settlement

Post by ChetanOjha » Thu Sep 06, 2007 2:40 pm

Hi Forum,

1.Is HSMP is a settlement visa or non-settlement visa?
2. What is the difference between them?

Please reply.

Thanks
Chetan

HSMP is a programme tha will lead to settlement as stated in the HSMP Guidance note after meeting the criteria for 5 years. Non Settlement is a term used to represent the group of people who probably want to visit the UK as a visitor or to study and thereafter go back to their respective countries. They dont intend to settle in the UK.

Hope this satisfies you quest.

but don't think that if you use hsmp that you have to settle here. you are welcome to continue renewing your visa to infinity and never officially settle.

There are different levels of perception of making a place your permanent home. We have the other side of the spectrum of people barely being here and lots of absences who apply for permanent residency on hsmp and other who like hsmp because it gives them the security and flexibility to work in the UK on a long term basis.
By saying you want to make UK your permanent home does not mean you must make the UK your permanent home in 5 years.

However it is easier to help you if you explain exactly what you have in mind.
