Hi Karthick,

Uploading photo is just optional. Use that temp ref to retrieve your application and complete it. Please make sure you note down the File ref number starts with some GBRLxxxxxxx.

Else after finishing the application you download it to location where you can access the file.

They dont send an email and if you dont have ref number or downloaded the PDF earlier, there is no way to retrieve it back

Regards

Hi all,

I am looking to make OCI applications for my family (Me, my wife, One minor child, One over 18).

Does the photograph have to pasted online on the form or could it be glued later on after the form is filled?

Also- is it £175 for each application?

Documents for OCI for Father and minor Son

Post by umittal » Wed Dec 17, 2014 11:03 am

Hi Guys,

I am planning to apply OCI card for me and my minor Son by post. I and my Son both have acquired British citizenship and have surrendered our Indian Passports.

I have following questions regarding the same and will appreciate if someone can provide some guidance on the same :-

1. Regarding details of relatives living in India I have only mentioned my In –laws details and have not filled anything for my parents. Do I need to change the form to add these details? Do I need to add details of all relatives. In case of Yes is it all right if I fill a new form as I can’t modify the existing one?

Regarding Documents I am planning to submit :-

1. Surrender certificate for both of us in Original
2. Copy of Naturalization certificates for both of us
3. Copy of Cancelled Indian Passports
4. Copy of British Passports

Do I also need to send anything from my wife’s side (she is a Indian Citizen for baby’s application ) like her :-

1. Passports copies?
2. Marriage certificate etc?

Ukesh,

I have filled in both my parents residing at same place . I think it wouldnt matter to prove your relationship to Indian citizen due to the fact that you were holding Citizenship earlier ( Surrender Certificate would prove that) so you can use whichever family relation you want .
Rgarding Docs :
surrender + Natrulisation - original and self attested copy
copy of british passport
I sent these by post to london for (2A+1C) application and its now under process .

Hello,
We submitted the OCI application of my wife and Kid in Birmingham on 27-Oct. It is still showing under process. I sent an email to cgi birmingham and they responded saying that the application is still awaiting clearance and hence showing as under process. Please advise if this is normal or something that I should be concerned about?

In person applications in London usually take 10 weeks. For some reason B'ham applications takes bit longer than London.

Re: Passport details in OCI applications

Hi,

Im trying to fill out OCI application on https://passport.gov.in/oci/welcome, unfortunately there are no guidelines to fill the form, But I struck while filling it and asking for PASSPORT details, when it says passport is it regarding "already surrendered Indian passport" or "current British passport" to which OCI is about to link.

Has anyone experienced this conflict or I'm thinking to much instead of providing British PP details, thank you for commenting..

Thank you,

I would like to apply OCI by post, then where I need to send, is it to CGI Birmigham or HCI London,

Are they see any jurisdiction restrictions when assessing OCI applications as my jurisdiction might be Birmingham as I live near to that.

Thanks to forum if you know anything about where to send,

If we want to apply OCI by post can I able to send it to London High commission or I need to send to CGI Birmingham as my jurisdiction is near Birmingham, thanks for clarifying

If I want to send Birmingham what might be the postal order address, is it same as high commission London or it is different.

When I had applied for my OCI last year, I had collected the card and got the sticker in my passport in person from the HCI London office. However, now I see from people's timelines that they have posted their passport and then received it with the sticker in the post. Is it no longer possible to go to the HCI London Office and collect in person?

From 17th of November 2014, OCI applications in Birmingham are received only by appointments which most of the people who were there on the day we applied didn't know due to the fact that this one line information was displayed only on the landing page (http://cgibirmingham.org/) of the website and not yet on the OCI Information page (http://cgibirmingham.org/page/display/10/67).

Application made in Person to HCI Birmingham(2 Adults) : 23 Dec 2014
Received by HCI : 23 Dec 2014
Originals verified and returned : 23 Dec 2014
Date Of Acknowledgement (on website) : 23 Dec 2014 (https://passport.gov.in/oci/statusEnqury)
Registration Status at Mission : BIRMINGHAM
Documents Printing Status : UNDER-PROCESS
Dispatched From MOIA (OCI) NEW DELHI :
Document received At BIRMINGHAM On :
Passport sent to BIRMINGHAM Via Royal mail SD :
Passport Received by HCI BIRMINGHAM :
OCI stamped passport received :

Documents submitted
1) Photocopy of the photo page in UK Passport - 2 Adults
2) Photocopy of Naturalisation Certificate - 2 Adults
3) Photocopy of Surrender Certificate - 2 Adults
4) Form A filled in online and Form B filled by hand - 2 Adults
5) 1 Photograph pasted on Form A - 2 Adults
6) 1 Additional Photograph handed in - 2 Adults

Notes
1. All the original documents were verified
2. Though got the appointment booked, the security staff asked me to show him a print out of it which i denied as I didnt have one printed but had it on my phone.
3. Security guard then let me in asking me to switch off the phone
4. Another entry check by the person who had a list of people's name and appointment timings asking for the same printout, for which I said I have an appointment booked giving him the time and name, He wasnt happy to go through the list, even though i had the first appointment for the day.
5. Appointment was delayed only by 5 minutes which was amazing and didnt expect it to be that quick.
6. The application submission process took less than 2 minutes excluding half an hour time taken for me to go out to a local bank to get the application fee as they didnt take card payments. Could have used an ATM but my cash withdrawal limit was only £300 and i had to apply for 2 applicants.
7. The staff was chatting a lot while receiving the application and made a crucial mistake by giving 1 of us an incorrect acknowledgement id, lucky i cross verified it, for which she smiled and said she always does such mistakes whenever she speaks to applicants. She also asked us not to check anything online at least for 3 weeks as no data will be found including our reference number.
8. Without having enough confidence in the advised process, I did check and well found all the expected information which I have posted above.
9. Pathetic CAPTCHA questions on the status enquiry page like,
natural colour of sun,
natural colour of an apple,
add 0 in 15.
10. As a whole, this appointment service would get better on the long run avoiding unnecessary queuing system like the ones followed by an embassy of a neighbour country close to this location.

Thanks. Understand from the different posts that Birmingham takes close to 2 months..But now I am crossing the 2 month window and hence concerned. Can anyone who has applied in Birmingham around mid of october post their timelines please? This will help.

Hello,
My case seems similar. Hold a French passport and they said waiting for clearance. But did not give clear directions as to from whom. Can you advise what happened in your case? It would really help.

Hi Guys,

I am going to apply OCI for my family and have few doubts. I am sure my doubts can be cleared in this forum from the experienced people here. I am planning to apply my OCI by post.

1) Do I need to send originals of surrender certificate, cancelled passport and naturalization certificates ?
2) Do I need to send photocopy of all pages of cancelled passport ?
3) Do they return you the original surrender certificate ?

Your reply and guidance will be highly appreciated.
