i've PM'd you the copy of the mail.

if you look at the general timelines, the applications that were made at London, people have had their statuses updated dot on the 3rd week. considering this, you applied on 29th and therefore i'd expect the status to change on 19 (+1/2 days).
Another thing i've noticed is that if the OCI is dispatched from India on Thursday/Friday then it is delivered to London on the following Monday.

In your case, i'd expect the OCI to be delivered at London latest by 24th Feb. You must keep all the docs ready from 23rd Feb and the moment status changes, you must send your passports. Hopefully you'll get it by 27th Feb.

Below is what i wrote to HCI.

Hi,

I and my wife applied for the OCI on 20th Jan 2015. My wife has a flight to India on 20th Feb.
During the in-Person application that I made at HCI, I asked the official if I should apply for Visa as there may be a chance that OCI won’t come back before her flight on 20th Feb. He advised that I should wait until 13th Feb and if by then her OCI hasn’t reached London then I should apply for visa.

He also advised that if OCI is received at HCI before her flight then HCI can make an exception and I can come in to personally submit my wife’s passport and can also personally pick up the passports once stamped.

Looking at the status of my wife’s applications below, it seems OCI will be available at HCI London by 13th Feb.

Question:
Assuming that my wife’s OCI reaches HCI London on 13th Feb,
1) Should I take the risk of sending her passport by Royal Mail to HCI and hope to get it back before 20th Feb?
OR
2) Is it possible for me to personally come and drop my wife’s passport to HCI and then probably in a day’s time pick it up from HCI once it’s stamped?

N.B: I and my wife made a joint application. I’m only concerned about her as she has a flight to catch.

Yes, just the photocopy of the main pages, i.e. the pages with your pic on them.

Can those who have recently recieved their OCI tell us please if the U visa is still being stuck to British passport ? As per MOEA the U visa has been dispensed with. But are we still following the old rule or it is just the OCI booklet sent with no changes to British passport ?

My OCI was processed on 11th Feb but i still got the "U" visa on my british passport.
Please note that the MOEA directive also says that they will have to finish off all the printed VIsa stickers in their stock. I guess that is why they're still pasting the Visa stickers on the passport.

My appointment was at 02:00 PM and it took only 5 minutes to handover application. They only checked original passport surrender certificate for me and I paid the fees in cash.

Documents submitted:

1) Part A and B of application. I didn't give them last 2 pages containing instructions.
2) One photograph pasted on application form (they returned the second photo).
3) Copy of Naturalization certificate*
4) Copy of British passport*
5) Copy of surrender certificate on Indian passport*
