To Visit My Mum's Sister in UK - Family or General Visit?

Post by walepiper » Sat Apr 18, 2015 7:28 am

Hello All,

I need an expert advice on the type of visa application i should submit to see my mother's sister (Aunt) in the UK.

I am torn between the Family Visit & the General Visit. The eligibilty for family visit shows as stated below from the UK Visasa website:

You must be able to show that you’re visiting one of the following family members in the UK:
  • spouse or civil partner
    children
    parents or siblings
    grandparents or grandchildren
your spouse’s or civil partner’s siblings or parents
your child’s spouse or civil partner
step parents, step children or step siblings
a person you’ve been living with in a long-term relationship, as if you were married or in a civil partnership, for at least 2 years before the day you apply
Whereas the General visit does not make use of any letter of invitation.

All the necessary documents have been received and i am ready to submit my application.

Need an urgent response.

Thank you.

Thank you Manci.

I have gone through the document attched to the url yu shared.

The changes are just some few policies and nothing to actaully solve my question with regards to Family or General visit.

Thanks.

An aunt is not one of the listed family members for a family visit (that you have posted yourself) so you need to apply for a general visit. You can still provide an invitation letter.

from next Friday 24 April the general and family visitor categories will be abolished and replaced by the standard visitor category. For the requirements to satisfy read Appendix V of the Immigration Rules which also comes into force on 24 April:

Thanks.
