Visa for baby - advice please..

Post by abhijack » Sat May 09, 2015 12:37 am

Both parents on ILR.
Baby on british passport.
We are planning to travel to India in July - so not enough time to get an OCI before the trip :(
So was planning to apply for indian visa for her.

Confused whether I should apply for tourist or entry visa?
On quick read both seems applicable unless I am missing something.

Any advice will be highly appreciated..

..
You can apply for entry visa (Validity 6 months re-entry) - it costs lesser than a tourist visa.

Another option is e-visa (currently not available to British Citizens) but will be available by 15th June (you get 30 days visa)

Keep an eye on this website - https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/tvoa.html

Incase UK is not added by 15th June you can apply for entry visa, takes less than 10 working days and is very straight forward.

thanks bro..
I have filled the application for entry visa as its cheaper..
I have booked an appointment for tomorrow as I had some free time this month ..so didn't want to leave it till june..

2 quick questions on oci..
I am thinking of applying for an oci for my daughter once I get the visa and before our trip to india..

1) do you know how long will it take to get passport back following oci application (I presume I need to submit original passport at the time of application) ?

2) its highly likely the oci will arrive at hci when we will be in india.
is there any rule such that we should drop passport for oci within so many days or weeks of it arriving at hci?

1. No need to submit original passport with OCI application.

2. No time lines for submitting the passport once OCI is ready but the sooner the better. It normally takes 30 - 40 days for OCI from the date of application to arriving at HCI. You can do it once you are back.
