Naturalisation application processing timelines (only)

Praise The Lord!!! All these 7 years of tenacity through stressful and uncertain times have finally paid off!!!

Here is my brief and thankfully quick timeline

Eligibility criteria: 1 years WHM + 5 years Tier-1 General + 1 year ILR
Nationality: Malaysian
Language criteria met: UK BSc Degree + IELTS + Pearson PTE Academic + Life in the UK
Method of application: NCS
Council name if NCS used: Surrey
Date of application: 23/12/2015 Monday
Date of application postage: 24/02/2015 by Special Delivery
Received UKBA 25/02/2015
Payment method: Debit Card
Date Debit Card Charged: 28/02/2015 Saturday
Date Charge showed up on bank account: 02/03/2015 Tuesday
Acknowledgement Received by Email: 04/03/2015
Acknowledgement Received by snail mail: 28/02/2015
Date approval received: unknown as mailbox is unmonitored (letter dated 16/03/2015)

Any application received HO till 6 April 2015 will be treated under old rules. you are safe.

Yeh you will be treated under old rules. They must have deducted the old fee( plz confirm) every time you call them you will get a different answer. You can try if you want. I applied on 1st April and my application through NCS was received on 2nd April. They have deducted the old fee and no biometric letter has been issued to me as well. So relax and enjoy the unavoidable.

I applied for naturlaisation and UKVI received my application on 2 April. Got fees deducted and acknowledgement letter and email. My passport was valid until 16 April so it is now expired. Is that ok or they can reject my application or ask me to send a valid passport? please help

Shouldn't be a problem. Cos mine was expired wen my application was pending but still got the approval.

You can request your documents back. I needed my biometric and I requested it and got it back in a few days and went on with my life

All, just an update on this - a friend did apply on the 2nd of April and has received a biometric enrolment letter.

My current residency card is expiring in few weeks.
has anyone had success with HO in making his application prioritised?

Maybe your case is different, however if you have a permananet resident status (ILR), how come you residency is expiring? In any case, the outcome of your naturalisation application doesnt impact your indefinite status so any resonable employer should be ok if you explain.

Also, just from previous experience, the head of my department (major organisation) wrote to the Home Office to request my ILR application to be expedited due to international work committments however HO declined. They didnt consider it to be "exceptional or compansionate" reason. Although no harm in trying.

Basically I applied under Surender case for which the PR or ILR are not mandatory, so I onluy have 5 year EEA family residency expiring soon. The emplyer want to see something writen from HO as a proof of right to work after the residency expires.

Have called many times and been told my appl is engoing..
not really sure what to do now. any idea?

Hi

Well, you can always write to HO and request your application to be expedited. They usually repond even if they decline your request.

Or you can explain to your employer that your current work conditions apply until the decision is made on the Naturalisation application. However, from an employers perspective, as they cant predict the outcome of your application, they will be taking a risk.

Or as it has been six months, you can approach your local MP and ask to make a representation on your behalf.

you should call the HO first.
They sent my daughter's letter to the wrong address. We found it after the call and went to the neighbours to pick it up. It seems their computer automatically put the wrong house number. Than we call to the HO again, changed the address and only after a week we got the documents

expresso12: Did he submit to NCS on the 2nd April? If so, his application would have reached HO after the bank holiday and that would explain new rules+fees being applied on his case. If he submitted earlier than 2nd April, then his application would have got to them on the 2nd and thus would have had to pay £906. I've read here and on the guidance notes that for naturalisation the date of application is the date when the authorities receive the application.
FYI. They have charged me £906 and the acknowledgement letter clearly states that the fee has been paid in full. If any senior member of others with similar is reading this post, please let us all know what your thoughts are.
