Naturalization for Child age 13 ?

Post by mmc » Tue Jun 16, 2015 10:53 pm

Hi Experts,
Both Parents and child age 13 have ILR granted in March 2015 on Tier 1 General route.

Can they apply for British Naturalization/Citizenship for their child now ? and What form to be used if yes!

Thanks

If child was born outside the UK, then child may register when at least one parent naturalises and child expected to have resided in the UK for at least 2 years.

I think vinny is trying to say is the child can apply when one (or both) of the parents apply for their citizenship. The child will be added as a dependant.

So does this mean that they cannot register their child now in iLR status ? ie they have to wait for 12 months. Correct me please ?

Parents have to wait till March 2016 to apply, you cannot apply before completing 12 months on ILR.
Being British is a state of mind.

There is no 'dependent' application for citizenship. Each person completes their own relevant forms and need to qualify. The child will qualify only when the either parents applies or after either parent has applied.
