Appointment @ Croydon

Post by aix » Wed Dec 01, 2004 7:34 pm

When is the earliest date one can book an appointment at Croydon to apply for ILR?

If the 4 years are up on 10 Jan 2005, the earliest one can apply for ILR is 13 Dec 2004 (4 years minus 28 days). This is less than 2 weeks away, so it seems a good idea to start thinking about getting an appointment.

I had telephoned the appointment line twice, but was given conflicting information and refused to be allocated an appointment on the basis that it was much too early.

Any information/experience you can share?

I don't know the answer to your question but ..... why not post the application instead of going to the PEO in Croydon? That will reduce the application fee and cut out the hassle and wasted time going to Croydon.

As always, if you are posting valuable documents such as passports ..... use Special Delivery at about £4 .... and enclose a prepaid self-addressed Special Delivery envelope for the safe return of your documents. That £8 in postal costs should give you peace of mind, and of course is a lot less than the difference between the "in person" and postal costs of application.

Of course if you need your passport in the near future, for example to travel somewhere outside the UK at Christmas time, then don't apply by post.
