ILR From Birmingham

Post by try-one » Mon Oct 29, 2007 8:37 pm

Hello,
After five years (2 WP and 3 HSMP), I managed to get the ILR.
it was a very, very stressful day.... at the end they exercised discretion and gave me the ILR.
I took the usual papers:
- payslip
- P60
- Bank statement 3 last months
- letter from employer (do bring one)
- birth certificate from children
- police registration
- life in the Uk test
- original WP

They were very friendly, it is a small office and it took about 4 hours to deal with my application end to end. Birmingham is nice, bit far away from london....don't take the M6......recommend the M40 and never travel at the end of the school vacation.....

If it wasn't for this forum, I wouldn't have made it.....thank you!

Hello,
Discretion was linked with absences; I had about 212 absences, however I had letters from employers stating and listing the work related absences (DO BRING THE LETTERS)...
You have a 4 month absence; from my point of view, and I'm not an expert/advisor, I would recommend a postal application and support it with a letter from employer explaining why you had to be 4 months out.
If you go in person they won't be able to help.....
