I have been watching this on and off since I found it last May or June. My story is pretty frustrating, but thought it might be useful.

Applied from the US using Form UKM - child of a British mother; I was born in 1958 in the US.
The paperwork was received April 8, according to the post office tracking; included my US Passport, my BC and mother's BC.

I hear absolutely nothing. No acknowledgement; nothing. It took me a while to figure out what email to send something to, but I finally enquired through FurtherNationalityEnguiries on June 17. Heard nothing. Emailed again on July 17.

On July 31, received the following email:

Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for your email. Your email has been forwarded to the relevant department where appropriate action will be taken. Regards...

And, as you have probably guessed, that's it.

EXCEPT, I noticed on August 20, that my credit card had finally be charged the 80 pound fee.

THEN, a couple days ago, my wife told me a package came in the mail for me (I am on sabbatical out of town) containing my passport, BCs and a letter stating that they are running behind because of setting up US biometrics, and will follow up with me when that is ready in the near future (Don't know exact words since I don't have the letter.)

So that's where I am.

Frustrating on the biometrics because they received my UKM form before the biometrics came into force - and in fact, the version of the form I used (was then current) made no mention of biometrics.

Just thought I'd pass along my story at this point.

First of all...Congratulations!! I'm sure you are relieved that the wait is over. Thank you for adding the note about the FPN, it's good to know that added information. Just in relation to that, did you inform the HO about the penalty in writing or by calling them? Can you advise how you went about it?

UPDATE:

Got a letter from my MP's office today, which was sent my HO to my MP date received 12-Oct-2015.

Whole letter was little sary, but the 2nd page last couple of lines got smile on my face, which are

" A decision was taken on Applicant's application on 8th Oct and we will be writing to applicant shortly to invite to attend a citizenship ceremony"

So I guess now wait is for the HO letter.

Thanks

parkrise wrote:Hi All,

I have been reading this forum for sometime. I thought HO will come back with int 6 months timeline with decision letter. But they prove wrong most of the time. Nonetheless, below is my timeline

Eligibility criteria: 5 year Tier 1 + 1 year
Language criteria: Degree taught in English
Current nationality: Indian
Method of application: NCS - Lewisham
Date of application: 08/04/2015
Payment method: Debit
Date of receipt by UKBA: 21/04/2015
Date of debit or clearance of fees:01/05/2015
Date of Biometrics Letter Recieved: 08/05/2015
Date of Biometrics Done:09/05/2015
Date approval received : WAITING
Date of ceremony:

After a 6 months wait, I received a letter from Ho

" Dear Applicant

We aim to process all the applications within 6 months from the date submitted. However, in certain circumstances this target is not possible. Following our assessment of your case, unfortunately it appears your application will not be processed within 6 month target.

This is because your application raises exceptionally complex issues and we require further time to consider your case thoroughly and reach a decision.

We expect to make a decision on your application shortly, but we will write to you again if this is not going to be possible.

"
I know worrying wont help, but just want to know what they mean by "We expect to make a decision on your application shortly", were 6 months not enough. I always applied via solicitors for the Tier 1 and further extensions cause didn't wanted to wait, this one I applied through NCS myself. and everything is so simple and straightforward with my case.

Has anyone got such letter and received the approval letter? and if so how much time did it take.

your view and comments would be helpful

Thanks

The FPN was for speeding! I wrote a letter to the home office with the fixed penalty offer and the evidence of paying the penalty. My position in the letter was that this was an isolated incident and the only time I had been given an FPN. I insisted that I was still a person with a good character who had always contributed positively to the British society and expected that this isolated incident would not negatively affect my application.

I've booked my ceremony now for 21st October.

HI everyone,
received my approval letter today (1st class stamp!!), here is my time line:
application sent:02/04/2015
received by HO: 07/04/2015
Acknowledgement letter and request to pay extra 100 pounds (as my application received after April fees change): 23/04/2015
Biometrics: ?07/05/2015
Approval letter: dated 12/10/2015
it is worth mentioning that i had speed ticket and 3 points on my licence exactly one year before i applied on April which i did not declare as my understanding when i filled the application was Parking tickets and speed tickets are not convictions unless you have several, obviously lots of people here thinks that you should declare points on licence, i have to admit that i had very worried about it at times!
i wish the best for all and hope for those waiting to receive their approvals very soon

I was very excited today to received a brown envelope. Which turned instantly to very disappointed.

Within was a pretty lame letter saying that they were not able to complete my application within the 6 month time frame, and that they are doing everything possible to make it happen, and the next update from them I can expect in January 2016. No means to contact them at all.

Livid to say the least as my application is hardly a complex one. Whatever, indefinite waiting to continue.

As I didn't apply within the UK, I don't have a MP to canvas... Any suggestions.

FireballXL5 wrote:OK this is it! Today I got home to the most beautiful brown envelope with my wife's approval in it.

We received the approval a full 10 days after the letter was written though which is a scandal. We pay £1005 and not only do they send by 2nd class post but to save money they send them out in batches so when you get '21 days' to respond, you really only get about a week (during which we are going to be abroad!). So it'll have to be an expensive international call to the Council!

Anyway, that's mere detail. I'm ecstatic. Months of conjecture and checking this forum several times a day are over. I must admit I was getting a bit excited as I saw a few people getting approvals this week with very similar timelines. I will now stop posting on this thread to the great relief of the Timelines-only Taliban (except to update ceremony date).

My wife's timeline is as follows:

Eligibility: Spouse of UK citizen (3 year route)
Language: Pearson PTE Academic
Method of application: NCS Lambeth
Date of application: 21/04/2015
Date of Receipt by UKBA: 22/04/2015
Payment: Debit Card
Date of debit and clearance of fees: 18/05/15
Biometric letter: 16/05/15 (received 19/05/15)
Biometrics submitted: 19/05/2015
Second (erroneous) biometric letter: 16/06/15
Date approval received: 02/09/15 (received 12/09/2015) [10 day delay!]
Date of ceremony: 14/10/15
Had my OH's ceremony today. Just updating timeline. Now we graduate to the passport thread!

Best of luck to all of you who are still waiting. There do seem to be a lot of April people getting delayed.

Thanks
