20 applications on excelle sheet from 13th July till 20th July and only approved 2 aaplications so far I think they forgot about us lol.

I’m an early July applicant, and have noticed, as others have, some people from later July (and even later months!!) were getting approved. So I did some analysis based on the naturalisation spreadsheet.

There were 79 applications submitted in July. Of these 50 are still pending, while 29 have been approved. I next turned my attention to the “notes” field to try to figure out how Home Office was processing. Three of these approved in July had blank notes and were discarded. Of those approved only two had long residence — the most common approval was 5 Tier 1 - 5 years + 1 Year ILR, or some close variant e.g., three or four years.

Next, I looked at those with a status of pending. Seven had blank notes and were discarded. Exactly 23 had between one and five years residence post ILR, while ten had residence of over eight years.

I did this analysis because I’m an early July applicant, with over five years post IRL residence, and have seen people who applies both before and long after me approved. I'm still waiting. It seems like Home Office does indeed process those who have resided in the country for shorter periods of time first. Based upon what we know about the process this doesn’t really make a lot of sense — HMRC will pass over tax records for residence in a single block, as will The Met, etc. Comparing five years or ten years of tax records and employers against declarations on the AN form shouldn't make that much of a difference.

There is additional criteria the “notes” field isn’t picking up on - for example, citizenship or means of entry to the UK - that no doubt impacts processing. Regardless, it seems there is other processing going on than the Home Office has disclosed publicly. I’d be curious if people who applied during other months see the same pattern i.e., shorter residence after ILR seems approved earlier.

I’m still waiting but precisely at the six month mark I’m going write a letter of inquiry.
