I am pleased the my 14 year UK immigration journey is finally over. My British Passport just arrived in the post and I just can't stop looking at it. I feels like a dream. I can't even name the emotion I am feeling right now. It just feels weird. I hope this post will help someone regarding the timelines. My passport arrived exactly two weeks after making the application at a local post office.

Passport for: Adult x1
Application Type: New - Naturalisation route
Method of application: Check & Send
Date of application: 12th October 2015
Date application received by IPS: No SMS received
Date of receipt of interview letter: 21st October 2015 (dated 16th October)
Date of return of documents: 22nd October 2015
Date of Passport Appointment: 22nd October 2015 (received sms the following day that my passport is on its way)
Date of Passport Receipt: 26th October 2015

I am going to apply my first adult passport tommrow from check and send service cab I put covering letter with my application to need passport before 24th November. .becouse I have to attend my sister weeding so will this latter help to get interview soon

Hey, the Check and send people will tell you that it will take 4-6 weeks to get the passport but as you can see from the recent timelines, most people are getting it back within 2-3 weeks. I think there is a fair chance that yours will follow this trend too. I don't know if they will let you add a cover letter though but you can still prepare one all the same. All the best.

1. BRP card
2. Cancelled old indian passport

I am worried i should have sent them _ hoping not.

I rang to passport office today amd lady told me to put covet note for urgent need travel and also she said if post office will ask why you sending this and you tell them passport office staff told me to right cover latter also thanks

This may seem a strange question but I have just been granted citizenship but had my ceremony.

Does anyone know if I can still travel on my Australian passport and enter the UK with my BRP?

there is no requirement, in either British law or regulation, that requires British citizens to use a British passport to enter the UK. All that is required is that the documentation presented be adequate for the purpose and duration of the visit. (This is in contradistinction to the situation in some other countries, e.g. the USA, Australia, that do require their citizens to use the passport of the country to enter.)

If you entered on a non-British passport intending to stay for a short time as a visitor, that is fine. And as a British citizen, you can subsequently change your mind and stay on.

Thanks for that info. It seems my BRP is still valid so I can still enter and leave the country freely. Thanks again!

Method of application: Check&send
Date of application: 09/10/15
Date of received by IPS: 12/10/15 ( called IPS and gave them the barcode )
Location of IPS: Peterborough
Date of received interview letter:19/10/15 (dated 16/10/15)
Date of interview: 21/10/15
Date of passport sms received: 22/10/15
Date of return the documents: 27/10/15 ( I had to call DX Courier on 26/10/2015 for to re arrange the delivery date as they left 2 calling cards on Sunday the 25/10/15. Than they delivered both my documents and passport at the same time)
Date of passport received: 27/10/15

Finally I would like to thanks everyone in this forum, who shares they time line and their comments. I am wishing best of luck to everyone who are still waiting.

Hope some body help me with these questions. I am sorry to put the question here.

Can be the counter signature be done by my neighbor who owns one of premier convenience store. or can it be done by my friend who is also a software engineer.

And second question is can the counter signature date can be before ceremony date.

Method of application: Online (posted it myself)
Date of application: 14/10/2015
Date application received by IPS: 15/10/2015
Location of IPS Office involved: Newport
Date of return of documents: 22/10/2015 (delivered by DX Secure)
Date of receipt of interview letter: It never arrived! I contacted IPS on 22/10 and got confirmation that I could book the interview over the phone. Places were plenty and available (in the Reading office) from the day after but I wasn’t available until the 27th.
Date of Passport Appointment: 27/10/2015
Date SMS received: 28/10/2015
Date of Passport Receipt: 29/10/2015 (for 2 of the passports) and 30/10/2015 (for the final one)

In summary, it was a quick and efficient service. All done within 2 weeks, but could have been even less if I were available to book the interview appointment earlier. Also, the online service worked very well and I can't see any reason to use "Check and Send"... unless you have a particularly complex and unusual case.

What a great feeling to finally get hold of the passport!
The online passport application is definetely way to go. It was quick, error free, cheaper compared to Post Office CS and best part is it tracks all status update.
For the grandparents section, I partially filled up with details I know and the rest were left empty with a note that "I dont have the complete details".
