Spouse Visa One-way ticket or return ticket

Post by synapse321 » Fri Nov 30, 2007 6:44 pm

Hi

I believe this topic has not been discussed clearly on doing a search on the forums.

In the event of a spouse visa being granted is it better to fly into the UK on a one way ticket or a return ticket?

Thanks in advance.

It makes absolutely no difference, so go with whatever is cheaper! :)

These days, a one way ticket from certain 'high risk' countries might bring unwanted attention from airport security if that's what the poster is worried about.

It is often cheaper to buy a return ticket and then just not use the return flight. I have done this many times.

If you have a visa to enter the destination country (and settle there!), then you do not need to have a return ticket. But it may be cheaper!

I think it is necessary to appreciate the type of visa we are talking about here. The person has been issued with a settlement-class visa .... so is expected to settle! So absolutely no problem travelling to the UK on a one-way ticket.

However, as already pointed out, a return ticket can even be cheaper than a one-way ticket, or certainly no more expensive. So synapse321, just make your choice.
